Are his necks from Muzikraft? Warmoth?
Your joking, right?

Steve

Why would he be? There's no indication anywhere if they're building things themselves or assembling them from off the shelf parts and doing the finish work or what. Every photo on the website shows completed bodies and necks that are at most in need of finish so it's a reasonable question. The photos look great, and the reviews from the two of you guys are good but that doesn't answer how the production is handled.
These are not off the shelf necks, but I'll let Curt answer... You're right though, it isn't clear on the site and I'm forgetting that I've been hearing about things for awhile because Curt is a friend. Apologies to danyeo - and frankly, nothing wrong with Warmth or Musikraft necks at all anyway... I've built some great guitars with them...

Musikraft necks are great! If he's using them there's no shame in it. But would like to learn more because a few of the guitars he posted on Facebook have my mouth watering.

I'd rather buy from Chub instead of Fender at that price point.

And don't Musikraft (and possible Warmoth) do OEM stuff for companies? So it's not unreasonable to think he could have used a company to build the necks/bodies with the price. Again doesn't really matter as long as the quality is there. They look killer

For me, that's the only thing that matters. I'll be looking into these after the new year as I'm in the market for a reliced strat , one hum, one single, reverse stock with floyd. Believe he can do that.

I don't understand why people want these perfect guitars that Steve Vai shot his load into before being sealed with wax and crushed dinosaur eggshells. If a guitar plays great and sounds great then that is the bottom line.

Chub's guitars are around $1100. I haven't played one but if they play and feel great good luck trying to find anything in that range made in the USA that's close.

Not my kinda ride but I support this

These look killer!

If they are Musikraft necks, it should add nothing but value imho. I had a Tele musikraft neck a couple years back with all the bells and whistles. $400+/- neck that smoked most of the guitars I had played before.

this thread has teeth.

curt is good people. he has a passion for the SD style guitars and if he can build a better, cheaper version - then go for it. not the first, and certainly not the last. he's one of the brothers around here and has my respect.

I have wanted a Nitro relic charvel for over two years now will one of these be just as good for a lot less money?
I don't like any of the MIM charvels which to me are NOT charvel's anyway :D and the customs are too expensive and the wait is ridiculous..

My Fiesta Red Chubtone is every bit as good as the best Music Zoo Nitro relics I've played.

Coming from you steve i can be assured it is true  Thanks

Is the truss rod adjust in the base of the neck or the headstock on these? It looks like base of the neck but hard to tell for sure from the pics.

Base of the neck on the two I own...

I get that it is easier with a truss adjust wheel (I'm sure Curt will make you a guitar with one of these) at the base of the neck or a headstock adjustable truss rod, but I fail to understand why this is such big deal. All you have to do is loosen the strings, capo them at the first fret (or tighten the Floyd nut if it's a Floyd guitar), take the neck off, adjust the truss rod and then put it back on and tighten the strings. The whole operation takes less than 5 minutes and with a bit of experience, you shouldn't need to make multiple truss rod adjustments. Taking the neck off is no big deal really, I do it all the time...

Good to hear. Which one did you buy?

gonna do a custom order
based on #26 on their website. I didn't want the Floyd. Gonna do reverse headstock too.
Nice! I am really interested in these but prefer a non-floyd version as well.

Also... this is bonerific!!!

I'm discussing a build with Curt now. Basically #10 (Vanilla Shake Nitro) but with Birdseye and #2 profile (chunkier), different Duncans and both double-cream.

Well we all have choices how we spend our money. I with out any doubt spent some money and bought me a ChubTone. The neck has an awesome feel to it and the guitar plays awesome, especially for the price. Obviously they have a serious Charvel Vibe to them but they have a great versatility to them as well. Also the guys at ChubTone are awesome to deal with. Very happy ChubTone owner #8 changed to #11.
