Just went and looked at it and its an allen screw where the bar meets the trem. Not really a set screw but tightens the base like a clamp.
My wolfgang has a nut on the bottom side of the bar and one on the top of the bar/ plate and you can tighten or loosen the bar with these.
Both bars screw in.
Hope this helps.
Aloha, Rob.

Steve, If your in So Cal you are welcome to borrow one of mine and do a few gigs with it to get an idea of different wood combos. I have a few and don't mind.

So can you make the bar so that it is solid in the bridge, but it swings around in circles freely like you can with an OFR?

That is an amazingly generous offer and I really appreciate it. I think I'm pretty much set on Mahogany neck and Pao Ferro board/Mahogany Body and 3/4" quilt top...

I'm in Mission Viejo? Where are you at in SoCal?

Interesting! I'll take a closer look on the gotoh floyd to see if it has this, hope it does... Stuck at work atm until 7:30pm though :(

Emailed Ed and it looks like there is a allen to loosen it. Guess I should've looked at it closer

Awesome looking guitar man. Can't wait for this one to hit the classifieds. ;)
It will never hit the classifieds, my friend... If Will decides to sell this one before I get mine, I will be at his place in ten minutes with the cash no matter what I have to do to get the money...

I don't see Will parting with this one though...

Steve

  I don't expect to see this go out the door anytime soon. Not really GAS'n for anything except for maybe when a 7 string modern is available

Dude....long time no talk

Mark V and the carve top?

Loosen that sucker up and swing away!

What a beautiful Suhr! Sounds like you had good time and it's nice to hear that another IV owner thinks that the V nails IV's tones too!

Yeah it came like that stock. My wolfgang came with some slop set up in the arm I guess to Eddie's specs. Ended up adjusting them both to just on the edge of swinging loose where they stay put but the lightest flick will send them on their way.
Aloha, Rob

Haha I'm a idiot, came home and loosened it up, now it swings freely.

couldnt you remove a spring and adjust the spring claw to loosen it up? I love the Gotoh Floyds, I like that the fine tuners are tilted back

The stiffness is more in how the bar moves, its a screw in type, so it doesn't swing like on a OFR and the fine tuners are pretty stiff, but those don't bother me. Might be a way to loosen the bar, not sure.
I don't think there is a way to loosen those bars...

Steve

There's an allen head screw on the back of the bar. Tighten it all the way up and then back off on the screw until it swings to your liking, if it's the same one that comes on musicman guitars. Works great!!
