Please help me put together an Ibanez jem build...

So I decided to put together a swirl Jem build… I’ve loved swirls since I first saw Vai play one with Whitesnake and the P&W album. That being said, if I could do something like this, I would totally be in heaven.

For the hardware, I was going to use Ibanez Rules. For the pickups, I was going to get them from Banjo Mike’s on the ‘Bay.

The body and neck are what concerns me…. I was going to use Perle guitars, but I don’t know if Nate offers swirling. At the very least, I could still get the neck and body from him unfinished. Livewire and Sims are out of the question.

Who else does swirling? I would prefer to source this from someone that made the actual body and neck to avoid shipping the pieces too many times.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I don't know who has a body already swirled but Ben Eller has done some amazing swirls. I wonder if he still does that?

Ron Thorn is about the best working currently doing swirls. He did the finishes on the recent UV reissues for Ibanez. That said he won't build you an Ibanez clone so you would need to ship the neck / body and he's a highly regarded pro so it won't be cheap if you go that route.

buy a swirled jem. I have seen them for sale, not often, but I have seen them. I am sure if you waited long enough that you could find one.
-so I just checked and found some for sale, they were only about $6500, so not too bad of a price.

Thorn will likely be too busy to take on swirl work. Your best bet is probably Ben Eller. Ben is a good guy that won't take on anything he can't handle and he doesn't really openly offer swirls but if you hit him up he will gladly do it!
