Plexi clean sound

Although I have some nice amps, I find the clean sound of a 1987 or the like is still the best. It has all the right frequencies and it feels really good to play.
You can play little wing on a d120 or a vh4, but it is not the same: too tight and if you listen back to the recording the plexi wins.
To me it's a magical sound.
I don't care too much for the plexi on 10, though.
 
I agree. Marshall JMP 50/100 watt circuits, and VOX AC15/30 are my cleans of choice. For adding gain... Zendrive 2 + Crowther Double Hot Cake.
