Just for fun. I'm going with reverb. At least in a live situation, I never want or would use it. It muddies up the sound IMHO. Don't like it on clean or dirt tones. Give me a good delay and echo, and I'm good.

Write-in vote for compressor (and octave not far behind).

I could only enter ten items for the poll. I agree, all effects have a place and serve a purpose. Just wondering if there's a specific one that the majority here never use.

I'm the same with you on reverb (my pick from that list), I prefer to just use a delay.

Reverb.
It's good when recording, but never works live for me.

if Ring mod was there I would have voted it +100000000 ..

I had KICK AXE "Vices" on cassette when it came out! AWESOME! haha

Write-in for acoustic simulator.

None of those really.

I chose "reverb", but only in terms of a standalone effect unit. I wouldn't bother to buy one, as I prefer to use the natural reverb of the area I'd be playing in, whether it's a small space or a large hall. I'd rather use a delay pedal to get a deliberate reverb-like effect.

Yeah man, finally just got it on CD (the band's selling it direct these days), total 80's classic

Ring mod obv. Anyone who plays prog will love a phaser :-) just listen to the opening chords of DSOTM!

I can't stand the sound of fast paced flangers on dirt sounds. I absolutely hate it.

Sonic Maximizer.

In rock or metal a compressor.

In general a phaser. It makes me think of funky Strat muted double stop Soul Train torture!

Arghhhh....

   :bleh: :uzi:

I voted flanger since so far I haven't seen the need to own one. I am not a big chorus user either, IMO Chorus often gets overused by young guitarists. I used to use chorus a ton when I had a lifeless SS amp and wanted to warm up the clean tone.

A lot of dislike for the flanger. I wouldn't have guessed that.
