My PRS 20th Anniversary sold on Reverb this morning. I've been in communication with the guy for a few days, going back and forth on offers, etc. and he finally committed to buy. I get the notification, and the shipping address is to a totally different name and a totally different city/state. The guys Reverb store is shown to be in Miami, FL and the shipping location on the Reverb sold notification is Memphis, TN. Odd thing is, the shipping location is a music store in Memphis, TN. So, it's not some random address but a brick and mortar store/location. I query the guy on this, and he says that he's having it shipped there to be set up by their guitar tech and then making a trip to Memphis here in a couple of months and will pick it up then. He also gives me the name of the guitar tech at the location for reference. So, doing my due diligence.. I called the store this morning and spoke to someone. The guy I talked to said he had no clue about what I was talking about and thought it strange that someone in Miami would ship the guitar to Memphis. However, the name of the guitar tech that the guy gave me checks out as they have someone there by that name. That guy won't be in until 1pm today, so I'm going to call back and talk to him to see what he says.

This seems kind of scammy to me, but why ship to a brick and mortar guitar store (that is easy to contact) and give a legit name of someone that works there.

What do you all think?

As long as the shipping address per Reverb is legit, I'd ship it. Meaning, when you sold it and Reverb notified you and included that address as the one to ship to. If the buyer messaged you to ship to a different location, that doesn't match the Reverb notification then I'd hesitate.

Thanks for the input! The buyer sent me a screenshot of a conversation between him and the owner of the store talking about him sending the guitar there. I was able to talk to the the store owner again, and he knows this guy. I wasn't in front of my computer when I called the store and I had given him the wrong name. So, that was on me. All looks to be good.

It is ok to be paranoid sometimes but often it is all good. I kept my Hawaii phone number from 2010 so people get scared that I'm a scammer.
