I'm starting to get out here and looking for a 2X12 for gigs for the trunk of the Beemer. Also looking for something that may compliment the cabs I already have in the studio; OS Recto 4X12 (8 ohms) and a Bogner straight FL Twin Jet (16 ohms). I don't really want anything to big.

????

Port City OS 2x12 is still my fave...sounds great and is LIGHT. I've got two, both loaded with Scumback M75/H75.

i too have a beamer..small trunk...fits a soldano 4x12 no sweat though...
i used to have a marshall oversize 2x12 and sounded awesome so i can only expect the Bogner 2x12s to sound better

My THD fits nicely in the back of my PT Cruiser. Budda head fits perfectly on it. Nice and compact. With the V30's in there, it's pretty light too.

I think a Legacy 2 X 12 might be the same size also. They looked pretty similar in size judging by speaker placement. Those seem to be a bit cheaper (in price) than the THD's.

I have an ear candy cab if you are ever in west nc area and want to check one out. I wouldn't buy new as I hear they have issues but used ones pop up. Heck I have thought about selling mine and going with a 1x12

My ear candy has been the better ab I have had. But that may not be saying much

Port City Wave 2x12 regular size for me and I've been really happy with it. I think they are made in NC too. Great with V30s and the ported design smooths them out.

I also looked at the Fryette Fatbottom with P50s when shopping for a 2x12. Unfortunately couldn't find one to play but heard good things about them.

My buddy John owns Stone Age Custom cabinets and he does fantastic work. He will cover it in several options as well as choices on grill cloth. He will load it with whatever you want. His 212's sound great. Second to none cutomer service as well!!

The Bogner OS 2X12 I had briefly was awesome. Sounded more like a 4x12, really rich and chewy.

+1 for the Port city standard, and -1 for the Earcandy.

They earcandy sounds pretty good, and has killer build quality, but there are two big negatives about them to me. First they are very directional, 2nd they are front loaded. I personally prefer rear loaded, but that is more of a personal preference thing though.

The port city standard sounds huge, and it really fills a room!!! I had an Eminence Delta Pro 12a, and Lynch super V in there for a while, and it was a bit bassy , but monsterous!!! I currently have some Scholz classics on the way for it. I prefer the regular size because I like a tighter sound with a bit less bass than what most people seem to like.

What you really need is to trade that beamer in for an E class Mercedes...I can fit a 412, amp, and two guitars in the trunk without it being completely crammed!!!!!!!

+1

I've got a CAA cab in a live in road case. Works great alone or stacks with a 4-12. I'll make you deal on it and I can even deliver it in Raleigh.

They are nice but a bit big and heavy.

James,
I am a big fan of the Mills Acoustics Mach212 and the Orange PPC212 (both V30 loaded). If you want you can swing by and check them out with my gear (check my signature below). I am just south of you in Cary. Let me know.

BTW - I believe you purchased the Mesa 412 in your studio from my son's guitar teacher (excellent musician).

Stone Age, John does excellent work. I've seen no better cabs out there!

You could always go for the smaller Shiva cab or this guy:

TM used to carry them, not sure if they still do.
