Here's my Egnater love shot with my 2007 live rig. Not pictured are 2 2x12 cabs and 2 full range cabs (for synth and piezo).
This rig basically uses the MOD 50 heads as two separate preamps and a uses the power amps as a big stereo power amp driving two 2x12 cabs. It works beautifully live and avoids the hassles of a mic'ed W/D/W rig - where the slightest level change will mess up your whole scene in a second. I have discovered that sending all the dry signal to one of the 2x12s and then distributing the wet seginal between the stereo pair sounds 99/100 as good as a W/D/W, but with 1/100 the hassle.
The rig is all patched through a Soundsculpture Switchblade audio routing matrix that lets me reconfigure the signal routing for every preset. It also lets me morph between signal paths. Here is screenshot of the editing software GUI. This is the patch used for our porno fusion tune,
F Street Fulano Live Video: In the live video you can see how I don't just toggle between rhythm and lead sounds all the time, but morph between them too at times. Same concept in this earlier HWM video with
my ie4 and M4 rig from 2006.
Little Black Baby Jesus and Sacred Watershed LIVE Video after the self-indulgent guitar intro.
Also, not evident for the signal routing GUI screenshot is that the chorus outs are always hardwired into the rack mixer group hitting the MOD 50 power sections. The G2 post and K2500R synth are alway hardwired to the solid state power amp that feeds the full range cabs.
Lastly, FOH gets for signals: 2 mics on the cabs, and 2 DI's for the synth/piezo. Tweaks I may do in the future are Egnater cabs, and add an E2.
Et tu Brute? More nerdly details on the HWM machines page.
