Curious to see what some of your settings are. I just got mine and have been tinkering with it. Hope to get some good ideas!!
[Chawonkey: do you have either the sat, fat, or c45 switches engaged? Are you running full power as well? Also, what level do you run the master on?/quote]
With master at 2 sounds good but 4 -6 is my favorite range. I use the fat switch with my strat leave it off with les paul. i dont use the sat very often just to much gain for me. i like to turn the gain down to 1 o clock when i use the c45 switch. always run the amp on full power. Tried this amp with a few attenuators and actually prefer it without. I'd rather run the amp on 2 without an attenuator than run it at say 5 or 6 with an attenuator. Just my opinion.

Speakers make a huge difference with this amp. I have greenbacks, h30's, t75's (jcm900 1960a), and beat to crap t75's. The amp sounds the best with the greenback cab. The 1960 BHW sounds like crap and it looks like I will sell it. The t75 in the 1960a sounds way too harsh, the beat t75's sound decent but not quite as good as the greenbacks.
I have never heard scumbacks in person, they may sound good with this head.

Superunknown: I have that picture saved on my phone because I really need to get that headshell upgraded haha. I see your master is at like 7/8 o'clock? Do you find you're getting decent saturation/gain at that level?
If you guys have any bedroom level clips you could share, I'd really appreciate it. I just have not been able to get a nice saturated tone with the master below 9 o'clock on the BE input. If i run it on half power, gain dimed, sat switch engaged, into the HBE channel it starts to get a little thick and juicy. I'm starting to think I'm gonna need to get an attenuator for this guy, to push master up into the 10/11 o'clock territory.
Also waiting to receive my scumback cab, which will arrive tomorrow. Been playing through my rectifier cab with v30s up to now. Perhaps that will be the game changer.

Switch on your loop and turn the return level all the way down. Turn up your master volume to what level you want and use the loop return volume as your master. Works pretty good.

Maybe you need a different amp.Leveraged Sellout":9sjxia5p said:guitarmike":9sjxia5p said:just connect it with a cable, you will not hurt anything.
Tried it last night, it helped a little, but the sound on the BE channel with the gain dimed still lacks punch and saturation. I'll have to try it with the scumback cab tonight as it should be delivered today. Might also try changing the tubes. Thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated.

LP Freak: I hear you, I think everyone's been a great sport in terms of helping me out, especially given its the Internet. The craziest part of all this is that I tried a stock be-100 in Nashville and it sounded phenomenal at low volumes. There was an insane amount of gain on the be channel and I found myself saying "there's too much gain". People who know me would have a heart attack if they heard those words coming out of my mouth. So after I got mine, I was a little shocked I couldn't replicate the results from Nashville. Another thing I'm confused about is, in the Phil x demo video, at first he is playing his Yamaha with a p90 and getting an enormously saturated tone. I plugged in my reissue les Paul's with burstbuckers and couldn't even get close. I assume burstbuckers are higher output than p90s. If that holds, the only difference would be the demo video was at a much higher master volume level.
In any event, spoke to Dave today and he was nice enough to suggest he could take a look at it if I brought it in to the shop. So I'll go next weekend and either get told I'm a complete idiot or get something fixed...the end.
Nah, what I have works fine.guitarmike":1prmgrfe said:LP Freak":1prmgrfe said:Maybe you need a different amp.Leveraged Sellout":1prmgrfe said:guitarmike":1prmgrfe said:just connect it with a cable, you will not hurt anything.
