Well lately I've been happy with my EL34's. Also thought a Mod50 in rack form factor would make for a fast setup/tear down rig. Plug in speaker, plug in mic and done. Also help with my fragile body
Although I have to say it's been much easier since the hernia diagnosis. The other guys have to do all the work I just connect cables these days. Of course they complain a lot and keep asking when I'm getting it fixed.
I would love to see a good 1-space stereo tube power amp from Egnater (or anybody else)
with a quiet fan. That with an Egnater E2 would be the ultimate 2-space stereo solution!
I owned a Mesa 20/20 for a while, but the fan sounded like a little jet engine - useless for recording
or low volume playing.
It wasn't so much that it bled into the track, it was that it was so annoying to my brain in between takes,
like nails on a chalkboard. I got to where I threw a towel over it every time I turned it on.
Not good for the lifetime of the tubes, I know .
I now have a VHT 2/50/2 which sounds awesome and has a quiet fan, but I'm still hoping
for a tube 1-space. I knew someone who had a Marshall 20/20. The fan was almost
as bad, and they had a reputation for reliability problems.
