Power conditioner

I never thought I needed a power conditioner but a recent incident with low voltage has changed my mind. I know very little about them but I know some are little more than fancy power strips. My main goals would be to protect my gear from surges and voltage weirdness and to try to reduce system noise. I was thinking about this one.

what do you suggest. I don't want to pay for fancy bells and whistles. Furman has a model in this same line that, as far as I can tell, is exactly the same except it has a digital readout to display the voltage and current and costs over $300. This is for my guitar rig, not a PA system. Thanks
 
Don't know anything about that model...sorry. I'm in the market myself....tagging along.

Getting one that shows the voltage is an important feature, it can't do anything about the voltage, but it can tell you of an overvoltage or brownout situation.

That's the one I use. I recommend it. There is some comfort knowing that the power going into your rig isn't too much/too little.
 
bought it after our bass player plugged into a wall socket at 240 volts

his pl 8 plus saved his whole rig

convinced me to buy one
 
Don't bother if you don't get a regulator. Get the furman ar-1215.
 
"Power conditioner" is just a $300 power strip with surge/spike filtering, whatever is in the wall voltage will be in the strip and your gear, you want a Voltage Regulator, they can cost a bit more.
 
Yes the Furman AR 1215 looks like the most economical that is a true voltage regulator. It looks like if you want voltage regulation and power conditioning you have to step up to the P 1800 which is >$800. Ouch. Anybody make voltage regulators besides furman?
 
The ar-1215 is both regulation and conditioning. Look for a used one or the discontinued ar-15 (which I have, purchased barely used for $300 on ebay).
 
Played an outdoor gig where my amp felt and sounded like it was stuck in the mud. No sustain just lifeless. Continued to get worse through the gig. Thought it was a tube issue, but couldn't recreate what happened at that event. Eventually came to the conclusion that is was a house power issue "dirty power/ brown outs." After some research I made the investment in the AR-1215 used for around $300.
