Hi Guys,

Who here user's Power Conditioners?

Does anyone that use them just use them with say...just One Head?

normally i see them in a racks. But i guess they will work with a head too, right?

My amp (5150) is perfect for me at the moment, but where i use it alot (at practice) it can sound different alot of the times. I guess its because im plug into dodgy power, or plugged into a multi adapter thats plugged into another multi adapter.

is it worth looking into getting one?

What brands do people have and how much am i looking at?

Thanks!

Anything by Furman will not cost you too much and its what most of the pros use.

I think that rackmount Monster brand stuff is way overkill and just marketing gimics.

Hey man,

Thanks for the input!

Just had a quick look, lots of Furman models out there. anything in particular? do you use one?

been using one for ages.

its saved me many times at gigs as well. once we had a power issue - i ran the PA, my rig, bass amplifier and his effects, and the mixing board ALL off of my single power conditioner. it saved the gig and it was a well paying spot to be earned as well so it definately paid for itself many times over in that one gig.

it will allow the power transformers to run at designed spec and also keep the amplifier a little quieter as well from AC noise. tone wise it will keep things stable from place to place too. probably the best investment i ever made to be honest. its noce knowing i can plug an extension cord into it without worrying about low voltages or voltage spikes from really old bars/clubs with wiring that looks the same.

usually they can be had for around $100 or so. definately go furman if you do. its just the staple in what everyone uses and its held up nicely over 5 years of gigging and band practices/moving.

its in my signature. i think it might be discontinued now to be honest. but anything they make i would purchase again. ive been extremely pleased with my furman unit.

as for the other one - that thing looks awsome. would be what i would use if i was building a rack rig for sure

Thanks! will look into it now

one more thing...do you know if i can use a Power Conditioner from the states .... in say... down under where the voltage is 230/240 volts?

or would it be best to buy one from down here (ALOT more expensive)

with racks, with heads, with recording equipment - works great!

At one point I used to run 3 heads with it. That was a scary sound :D

Thanks for the info nbarts!

Will most likey get a Furman when i can work out what all the different models do!!!

glpg80 - theres a few Furman M-8D Power Conditioner's on ebay.

Might look at getting one of them when the time is right.

the thing i want most in a power conditioner is what you said about getting the right amount of power to the amp to make it sound how its meant too.

if anyone else know's about Furman models... please chip in !

Cheers

for 230/240 and 120V conversions you need to look at nbart's suggestion. furmans cant go back and forth that easily because a stepdown transformer is needed - which that unit nbart recommended has already built in.

just my 2 cents - i love furman but for you i would recommend that other unit

Furman M-8D does not offer voltage regulation & I don't think the outlets are isolated on that one either. If that's ok with you, then go for it.

I would buy something like that new, so you qualify for insurance.

does offer voltage regulation - 120V to all outlets. but they are not isolated.

nop, it's just a voltage meter. if you incoming voltage is high or low it won't fix it.

I hope you understand that 230v units only operate with 230v power with some % variance & equipment designer for 230v. same goes for 120v. you can't plug 120v device into your 230v outlet & use 120v eqipment with it.
