The tolerant left speaks...

Hope everyone is safe. Mojo, prayers and money sent!

Thoughts and prayers go out to you all. My sister, niece and nephew live in Houston they are surrounded by water, but luckily their homes and neighborhoods have not been flooded, at least yet.
Truly touched by the efforts going on there, so proud of the people and courage. That is America at its finest and how I believe most people truly are inside.

Hey numbnuts... you do realize that hurricanes have been around since the beginning of this planet right? I guess you'll tell me next that the tectonic plates that shift causing earthquakes are cause by your fake science as well?!!? I appreciate the fact that your first thought was to bring politics into the discussion. I hope you have seen enough of the news to see that we're not busy worrying about politics, skin color or any of that other bullshit here in Houston. We're busy saving our fellow citizens and taking care of our business.

My last hurricane of size was last season; Matthew flooded Eastern NC. Fortunately my house is in the highest part of the county, so I was dry but on an island! Weird and eerie knowing your safe, but "cut-off" from the rest of the world.

I really try to find the lightest side of things, even when shit is bad...it helps with sanity, and helps me to think clearly and such. Anyway, we lost power in the middle of the night so not much sleep. I don't own a generator so we just "toughed it out". Of all the things i took care of pre-storm...charcoal and propane for all the grills, enough ice to get us through a few days of no power, clean water for a week, cars filled with gas, medical kits up to date, batteries, candles, tarps, fans.....etc....I FUCKING FORGOT COFFEE! H-oly SHIT! What an eff'n junior grade mistake on my part. So (next morning) I hop in the car and head to the nearest store that has generator power and retrieve coffee for my bride and me (across a bridge over a sizable swamp/creek). As i return, the high-voltage guys are on the scene (where i have to cross the creek to get back to my house) and they have closed the damn bridge. Keep in mind this is the ONLY non-flooded bridge that'll get me home.

Soooo...I slowly roll up on these guys....power lines are lying all over the swampy area and creek bed...they all stop...turn and look at me like the dumb-ass i am...and the big-boss-man says, "Uh...bridge is closed sir...as you can see...uhhh...power lines are down". I smiled, raised my coffee cup, and said..."the wife's coffee, sir". He whirled to his underlings at the other end of the bridge and shouted..."move them barricades, this man's got an emergency on the other'side of this creek..."!

It sucks now, and will likely suck for a long time. Unfortunately this storm will produce scares that you guys, or someone close, may never totally heal. A buddy of mine lost his parents in this same storm (i mentioned above). They waited til the last minute to leave their home, in their truck and got swept away in the middle of the night. But...you guys will endure. I've got no doubt you will. Stay strong....there'll be time to reflect down the road.

Looks absolutely devastating. It's really humbling actually. Reminds me how much we take things for granted. Huge respect for everyone chipping in to help.

This is a MONSTER city. There are over 4,000,000 people in Houston and our city is a colossal mess. STRESS! It's stressful going through this shit even if your house didn't get flooded too much. You have to worry constantly about flooding or tornadoes. In fact, a HUGE tornado touched down 4 times just a couple of blocks away from my house. I've never once seen a snake in my yard, but I found 2 fucking poisonous Water Moccasins on my back porch. I've ordered parts from several sources, but UPS and USPS are all screwed up right now, so everything has already been delayed a week and doesn't look like it will get here in the next few days either.

Friends of mine had to be evacuated by National Guard. More than 40 deaths so far. We have a mayor who would rather act like he's so cool and has everything under control instead of evacuating people BEFORE the devastation. We had helicopters and boats evacuating people in our neighborhood for a couple of days. SWAMP BOATS up and down our streets! Get that? Freaking swamp boats floating our neighborhood streets!

Texas has been hit real fucking hard. What pisses me off are all those bigmouth celebrities who've been badmouthing Texans since November. Now all the sudden they want to act like they care and donate their nasty dollars. They can keep their stinking money. Texas is the greatest state in the Union as far as I'm concerned. We don't need slimy celebrity money. People here have heart, balls, guts... Texas will bounce back... Texas will rock on
