That may be how they run them now but I got several modena 60 Elmwood amps built and delivered straight to my door and all the pre amp tubes were Sovteks. Jan and peter even sent me an additional package with parts for one of the amps that got damaged so I could return it to new condition and they sent new replacement pre amp tubes and they were all sovteks.
Like I said before Hacksaw installed Tad pre amp tubes into his modena 60 Elmwoods and he loves them. You can get those from Mojo musical supply. But another thing is Ruby power tubes el34bstr's are shuguang tubes tested by ruby and labeled. I ahve a set of those and they just kick azz.

Doug's rubes in New York sells those. I would stay with the shuguangs as they are very musical for the power tubes if it was me. But The SED's are a killer tube.
If you had the extra money I would try them. Maybe get both sets of the power tubes and then hear the difference.

Pre amp tubes I would say the sovteks, the tads, and the tung sols would be good choices. the chinese 8th or 9th gen. pre tubes are also good. Happy holidays to you and good luck.
Oh, try to stay with a power tube that has very middle of the road ratings for break up. A high headroom or late break up power tube in the Elmwood would not do as well as a power tube with average or early break up. Later.
