Hi guys,

Just got a rectifier rev F. The orange channel seems to be very dark/muffled. I run the presence all the way up to get it bright? Haven't ever had a rectifier before. Is that normal?

Also I want to buy new tubes for both my IV and rec. Looked at the Tubeampdoctor side and they want the color code for the tubes that are in it now. But there are no color code. What to do?

They can sound dark. IMHO rectifiers shine with a tubescreamer in front and an EQ in the FX loop.

Hopefully this can get you in the ballpark;

For Orange I use silicone diodes, FX loop engaged

Keep your presence and bass around nine o clock, mids around noon and adjust treble and gain to your liking. The EQ is really a preference thing and dramatically can alter your tone. I tend to push mids and highs and cut bass but depends on a lot of factors

With a boost this does everything from Priest to killswitch engage for me.

Yep... that sounds about right. I never liked the orange channel on those... mainly stuck with the red. Solution: Sell it and buy a new multiwatt Triple Recto. One of the best, if not the best, Recto I've ever played. I've owned pretty much every revision including several sub-200 serial numbers. The new multiwatts are really that good.

Sounds similar to what I do on my 2-Channel Rev G. If I use the Orange as a gain channel, presence is set about 3 oclock. The Red as a gain channel, presence is set about 9 oclock.

I just did the Rectifier Metal Retube kit from Doug's Tubes. Sounds good to me......

i always used to run the treble at 0 and use the presence for the treble control. might just be tube time though. there's a lot going on inside of those things though.

I always run mine on the orange channel and utilize the presence controls of both channels. No problem with my amp being too dark.

Not sure about the Recto but in the 2 Mark 3s and 2C+ SRG I owned, if you can find some vintage Sylvania 6L6GCs they make a HUGE difference to my ears. Spendy but worth it.

The Orange Hi Gain setting with an EP Booster in front is freakin' glorious.

Have to agree with the above. While I do like the Rev F, they always needed a boost and/or an eq in the loop.
While my multiwatt does benefit from a boost, it really doesn't need it. Overall, the multiwatts are easier to dial in. Add in the additional features and they really are the best Rectos ever.
