Considering it’s 2023 and you still have these views, I’m guessing you aren’t about to change them, and that is fine.
But, just in case you haven’t heard it yet;
Masks are solely meant to protect the people around you. They offer no benefit to the wearer, nor was it ever billed as doing so in any sort of official capacity that I’m aware of.
The vaccine is called a vaccine because it in no way guaranteed a result. It simply introduces a virus to your body in a controlled measure in hopes it helps your body “learn” to fight it in the event you fully catch the virus. This process has a long history of working very well but again by definition, does not guarantee to be effective.
It’s called covid 19 because variants of covid are nothing new.
It’s technically SARS covid 19, and as you know SARS is nothing new either. So this vaccine wasn’t really new either, it wasn’t pulled out of thin air. It was a slight variation of something that has already been used and tested.
And also it didn’t appear before the virus, just before some parts of the country that weren’t getting hammered by the virus decided something was actually going on.
So cmon let’s be real here. I’m sure some people got the vaccine, wore the masks blah blah because they were scared or confused etc, but most of the people did it because they meant well and wanted to feel like they were doing their part.
Me? I did it because I had a daughter born in March of 2020, in a hospital completely shut down except for the maternity ward because of a massive outbreak at the neighboring “big city” hospital and they basically had to restaff the entire hospital to take care of the people getting sick. I wasn’t exactly worried about getting it myself, but I sure as hell did not want my literal days old daughter getting it.
Well anyways that’s my take. Probably not very popular here, but I’m ok with that.
