there's a reason that 6 months ago i went well outta my way to find a new pc with the specs i wanted, that still ran XP

there's a lot of hardware that seems to have problems operating with vista...i'm sticking with xp and my firepod for a good 2 years or so, until they get most of that crap sorted out

Just rub it in eh???? :gethim:

What do you think about the Firepod Bob?

I have no personal experience with the Firepod but based upon what I've read, it will not be a step up from the EMU. How many tracks are you going to be recording at a time?

the downside is that i'm stuck with a 2nd rate system in the meantime, and while i'm happy with the firepod currently i've got pretty serious recording project on the horizon where a better system would REALLY be nice to have

my pc is solid enough to handle my needs now, and with fingers crossed i'm hoping that by the time vista becomes prevalent enough for me to wanna switch that they'll have most of the driver bugs worked out, and i'll be due for a system upgrade anyhow

I agree that the FP will NOT be an upgrade quality of pre-amps wise but looking to move along from the EMU as they are just not moving fast enough with Vista drivers...like many companies it seems.

I also have plans in the future to maybe record my weekend jams which will take more input streams. I am thinking that the FP-10 right now can be had for a nice price so why not.

I couldn't see you not enjoying the firepod...it's a good sounding unit with rock solid perfomance...not a ton of bells and whistles buts thats probably why it seems to work so well

I actually might let mine go for a good price being that I use the RME setup I have more...

maybe $300 shipped or something...
