Got a treat in the mail yesterday from my high school pal, Mr. Keeley. I had recently been messaging him and mentioning how I noticed so many great pedals coming out, etc. and he was telling me that he had some struggles a few years back and was able to come out of that (there is a cool JHS pedals podcast online where he discusses it).

I told him I was interested in his new "Dark Side" pedal which is his take on some cool Pink Floyd sounds (does a cool U2 sound as well IMO). I have been playing a little with it and it so awesome!! So many tones in one box. It has a Fuzz (with 3 different settings), delay, phaser, etc. and has blend, etc. Really cool pedal. I need to spend more time with it and learn all of the knobs.

He also sent an Oxblood overdrive and Vib-o-Verb. Both awesome as well! I was so excited that I plugged these in and didn't even look up settings, etc. He really makes some great stuff. I really need to get a little tube combo because my pedal totals are going up and can't keep plugging into my Axe-FX II. :) I need to go thru an actual amp.

Anyway, highly recommend you look up his website and check out his newest inventions. He has gone nuts over the last few years and has so many new offerings. Like I mentioned before, we used to trade BOSS pedals in high school and never thought I'd see him years later, making his own. Check out the "Dark Side" demos. Really cool stuff!!

Here is a great video someone did on the "Dark Side" pedal:

Floyd-in-a-box! Pretty damn cool. I love Keeley pedals, I wish I still had my 3 way Rat.

Love that Dark Side. Pretty cool that you have the man himself sending you his stuff to check out! By chance, have you played a JRockett Archer? Just wondering how the Oxblood compares to some of the better Klones out there.

damn, quite the haul!!! I love keeley's pedals so much. cant wait to get the super mod workstation.

Wow, that dark side sure seems cool as hell, wicked sounds comin outta there. Might check one out.

Thanks everyone for the replies!! Yeah Rob is great and really gets into his work. He is the reason I started playing guitar in 85'. I saw him at a talent show in our school and asked my parents for a guitar when I got home. :) The funny part is that I thought you could just plug into any amp and get "that sound". I bought some crappy combo and when I hit a chord, this clean strum came out and I thought it was broke. Rob said "dude you need a pedal!" and I was like "what the F is a pedal?". That is where the tone quest started. :)

Yeah, the Dark Side is unreal. It is so light and small and that is what blows you away. It is not this huge pedal but has so many options inside.

No, sorry man I haven't. There are some great Oxblood vids out there, especially one where a guy is playing ZZ Top riffs. I'm kind of falling back into the pedal world again after years of digital workstations, etc. I can't even remember the last time I had a pedal. Back around 2005 or so I had some Keeley modded BOSS pedals and a Decimator Noise Gate, but that's about it. Now I got the Friedman and those three Keeleys. It is like an addiction. :)

that Dark Side looks really cool- will have to try it out. Keeley has some great stuff.

Yeah, the crazy thing is when you flip the switches, you go oh there is the "Have a Cigar" tone, there is the "Brick in the Wall" tone, etc.
