Very clean Marshall JCM 800 2505. The 2 channel, 50 watt head.
What's a good price? What's a steal?
Do they sound as good as the single channel 800's?
One for sale locally.
Thanks in advance.

2205. 1987 and later sound best. I have owned many of them and still have an '87. $800 is about right for a nice clean one.

Thanks guys. How do they compare to the single channel Marshall 800's and JMP's as far as
sound, gain? Which speakers sound best with them?

They have diode clipping and have more gain. Have an fx loop as well. Take boosts amazingly well and can sound killer.

I had a combo version of the 2205 and it was an early issue from when they still had the issue of the reverb and channel bleed problems. It had 6550 tubes and I never could gel with that amp and actually it was one of my least favorite marshalls and I have owned them all. I much preferred the single channel 2203/2204 jmp or jcm even though they have less options and versatility. I know many now like the channel switching reverb 800's and I have heard people who use them and sound great. I guess its one of those amps where u have to find a good one and not a lemon. I wouldnt pay over 750 cause in this economy its a buyers market which will allow u to get a much much better amp for a grand or under if u shop around and are patient.

Hey Dude,

How do you run yours with a boost? I get a lot of squealing when I boost my 2210. I'm boosting the lead channel, gain on the pedal set to 0. Lead channel volume and gain on 10 and controlling the overall volume with the master (and it's loud as hell). Backing of the gain (I don't run other amps on 10) doesn't sound as good to me...

Thanks!
John

THis ^

With that said, Ive seen them going on E-bay for $1000 lately but that is the E-bay price.

They can also be loud as hell.

Hmmm. Never had a squeal problem with mine. I mainly have the gain on about 7 or 8 on the amp and then use a TS9 with gain at 2, tone on 5, and level on 10. I have boosted it with the amp gain on 10 before and it was a looser sound so I backed off the amp gain a bit and wham, super tight. GE-7 in the loop to add a touch of 100hz back in and it is metal mayhem.
