I pretty much know nothing about Dual Rec's... but kind of want to get one, one day. I'm friends with the owner of the local shop and he brought in one from his stash to see if I was interested. I wouldn't mine but he wasn't sure what he was going to let it go for but hinted it might not be cheap lol. I was just wondering what you guys think would be a fair offer? He said its an early one with a chrome chassis with the original tubes etc. Serial R-001598

It's hard to say right now. If it were posted to Reverb, someone might jump at $4k to be honest. The chrome chassis has always been a big draw. I just don't know.

I sold one to US for I think it was 5k + shipping some months ago. And I regretted it :( It was awesome as fuck

That’s a rev F model, in a highly sought after chassis color/faceplate combination. Right now that’s. 3-3500 dollar amp on reverb all day….on the low side id say too, for one in that condition, tubes etc.

I bought a chrome chassis Dual Rectifier Rev F (SN 963) in April for $2500. Seemed like a lot at the time. Seems like the deal of a lifetime now, especially for a sub-1000 serial number "pure" Rev F (1500-3000 are sort of hybrid Rev F's that have some features of both Rev F and Rev G). My guess for the one you posted? On Reverb maybe up to $4000. In a local deal like this I'd offer $3000 and see if he bites but be prepared to go up to $3500.

These seem to be getting almost C+ like money..especially the rarer pre F dual, or F Triples that really have low numbers in circulation. Tons of F Duals, though by comparison. Hell, a G Dual is selling for 1600 within an hour of posting.
The days of scoring an F for 1400 are LONG gone.

Not true. At least, when it comes to your 'Pure' rev F statement. There are a few late serial Fs that have the newer loop; but they are rare. Some early Gs can have the older loop. Again, rare. I have an F Triple that has a 29XX serial...and it has the older loop, speaker outs, Black/Chrome etc. Mine may be the very last F Triple made...and it has absolutely nothing from the Rev G models. I've owned two G triples; this is my 2nd F Triple.
The rarity of those models you refer to may make them more valuable, actually. Since they are very rare.

I got it and a matching 4x12 the first year they were released. I still remember the first time plugging into it and being amazed how huge it sounded compared to my Marshall’s
Yeah the thickest amps I’ve heard have probably been my Rev F/C mod triple, Rev 1 Uber and Beta. Those amps all have such insane low mids. They tend to make all my other amps come off thin and slender

Thanks guys for chiming in... I want a recto one day but man i'm not sure I'm ready spend $3500+ on one. But I guess that would be the one to get if I did. If he doesn't post it in on reverb then I have some time to think about it. The good news is that he is starting to let some of his personal stash go, I know he has quite a few 2c+ in stash as well but man. I guess in my head if I start paying close to 4k then I think I'd rather get a Wizard.

I had a chance to but opt'd for the Deliverance module. It wasn't too far to off to be honest. I just picked up the Diezel Herbert module yesterday, that thing sounded damn good in the shop thru a syn1, connect to a Friedman mini JJ fx return into a Synergy 1x12 with a v30. I was impressed.

It depends on what you have in your stash...personally, If I had something that resembled a Wizard I'd go for the Mesa unless you have that tone covered. The F or earlier Recto, C+ are amps that I don't believe are going back down ever again. Wizards may go back down to 2-2500 at some point since they're still made.
All Mesas have that inherent low mid centric thing going...if you get a good Recto then you'll have the Mesa tone pretty much covered...while Marks are different (and tighter for sure) they still have that low mid thing like a Recto...I sold my C+ Coli since I'd A/B both the F and Coli into my Traditional cab, and they were super close...F not as tight of course.

Good call man. The price on everything has inflated so much -- with no sign of ever returning to pre-covid prices -- that you should absolutely get exactly what you want. Cheers!
