Honestly they are awesome in the right application... but that pricing is insane. A couple did sell for $500 or $600 before the $1k+ listings went up though so somebody paid it

I mean they are cool, but even the original price point was high. I bought one and I had my VFE standout replicating it in about 2 minutes, and sounded cleaner. Also the koko boost makes it sound like a toy. I don’t get why people would want to make their amp sound drastically different, and every video clip I’ve heard besides like Killertones, sounded scratchy and thin
Nope. I've owned just about every pedal mentioned in this thread, including the Koko, and none them do what the 33 does. The Koko has more tone options, of course, but it can't nail the 33 tone.

Scarcity and name recognition drives up prices. The original TS808s are meh pedals. I bought one in '81 for $45 and sold it ten years ago or so for $550. It still sounded average, but it had the SRV stamp of approval. Whatever.

Like I said the VFE sounded exactly the same with more options. Also we’re talking about a pedal from August, not one from 35 years ago

Maybe I need to check out the VFE boost. You dig yours?

The 33 isn’t going to work with every amp but when it does it’s awesome. Seems to work well with Mesa Boogie amps. Not so much with Marshall’s.
Yup agreed... for Marshally amps you have to dial the amp in like a 70's bass tone then turn the 33 on... or turn the tone knob on your guitar all the way up making it as muddy as possible lol... I will say it makes my Rivera K-Tre sound super thick and tight, as long as you dial it in to sound like ass first.

Yeah man I love mine, it can tighten or "loosen" my set up. With my amps I prefer straight in though, I always gravitate towards tighter sounding amps to begin with. Maybe a Fortin Meshuggah wil be in my future here

Is it the VFE Focus pedals you're talking about or a different model if their? I used to own a Focus and it definitely won't nail the 33 sound, but maybe can get close. I do think a bunch of pedals like the Airis Savage, Horizon Precision Drive and a few others can get in the same ball park as the 33 while doing a lot more, but I haven't heard anything yet that's made me ready to sell my 33. I prefer to have gear that's the very best in at least one area rather than more practical jack of all trade type gear and so far I've found the 33 to be unmatched in it what it excels at. That being said, I was still shocked to see the 33's being listed that high

VFE Standout, its the Focus 2.0 and is more transparent with more shaping/mixing options

Do you know how it would compare to the original Focus? Have you tried both the Focus and Standout? Is the standout significantly better?

Yeah actually I have them both here actually. Its a lot less compressed, and not as smooth as the Focus. I did like the focus however I used it more with the recommended tube screamer settings, and wouldn't really boost the high end. I couldn't ever quite get it to do the Fortin thing very well, it was either too dark or too thin when I tried. The Standout is much nicer, and the gain is more usable. The cool thing about Peter's pedals is you can try them for 14 days and always send them back if its not your thing.

Look at reverb now lol.

I see what you did here with this thread. SS.ORG'D

I have one. Never even opened the box. Not sure why I bought it, but I have no need for a boost. Anybody want it PM me a reasonable offer.

$99. serious offer

I had the 33 and Grind. The Grind made a flubby amp tight and gave it grind. Well named. The 33 did nothing for me yes it boosted but nothing I couldn’t simulate with a GE-7 etc.

Since I now have a Mesa amp I have to be honest and say that I am slightly curious to try it again after seeing some of the replies here but man...My experience with this pedal into a Bogner was so bad.

I posted the reverb listing linked in the top thread, 333% as a joke. I was about to take it down, when suddenly somebody flagged the listing and got it suspended, lol. Not even mad, that's just hilarious!

Anyways, I own two 33's and I like them very much with my Uber Blue and Mesa's and rather hope another run opens up because there is still plenty of demand, as shown by people willing to pay double and triple the original price. For Marshall-type amps I like the Grind. Those and the ZUUL usually resell for 10-25% less than the original price.

VFE standout killed off all the non adjustable metal clean boosts for me.

I have the VFE Scream and Killer Rabbit. They can dial in the tone of the Grind and close to the 33, but they don't have as much boost on tap. I was also able to dial in the 33 tone with the Precision Drive also, but again, with not as much boost. A graphic EQ pedal goes a long way, too! Great pedals!

I've also considered picking up a TC Integrated Preamp if I find one priced right.
