Prince Smashes Borrowed Guitar On Fallon

A lot of guys pull that crap. I saw Nuno take a kid's PRS and throw it about 6 feet away onto the stage after sitting in with a band at Dallas City Limits in the early 90s. I'll never forget the look on the kid's face as he walked over to his guitar. Never cared for that asshole after that.

What am I missing, in the video I see he throws the vintage Epi and it is in one piece. What did he smash? Also, no offense to the guy from the Roots, but who the fuck cares? Prince did more by 1980 then he did before he thought of being the dude from the Roots. As long as he gets reimbursed he needs to stfu and be happy Prince touched his guitar...lol.

I once heard a story about Prince serenading his fiance I believe at a resort. He grabbed his guitar and was outside playing up to her. Management went over and tried to stop him and he had a real attitude with them and said something to the effect of that they were lucky and that he gets hundreds of thousands of dollars to play for a night somewhere and they are getting this performance for free. That is some arrogant shit...but it is true. Bottom line is people pay all sorts of money for shit. Tons of cash for guitars Hendrix broke and threw out during a performance, and the same for guys like Prince. Whether or not we believe this was cool or not is really irrelevant. Guys it was planned. Look at the lyrics to the first song he played....

I don't understand the argument. I am with you on all of your points with the exception of motive and for the fact that I really don't care as much as some of you apparantley. I also believe that when a tv show has an artist on to promote something they plan the fuck out of it. In this case Prince was on to promote a song with lyrics about smashing a guitar. Hmmm..... choose to believe what you will. TV, hype, advertising. If you don't know how it works than that is your problem. We are all now talking about Prince...check. Fallon...check...and the Roots...check. Seems to have worked. I've seen vintage crestwoods go from anywhere from 1k -4k or so assuming it was an actual vintage one (in mint, original condition.) That is well worth the cost of advertising.
