This Pro Tools Digi 03 Rack and software is a big pile of shit. On 3 occasions I have had to reload this damn software. Sat down to try and record some stuff and open up Pro Tools and it cannot find the hardware. ITS OUT IN THE DAMN GARBAGE CAN now.

Who has had good luck with a suitable interface and software other than this turd? No more of anything connected with Pro Tools.

Steve

If it's out in the trashcan, can you take it out, and send it to me? :D

What are you looking for in an interface as far as inputs?

User error.

PT has been one of the most stable DAW platforms ever, and has a history to back it up. Most likely it is incompadibilty with your computer, gotta read the notes to see what will work with what.

Think its a short between the chair and the keyboard?

Running on a MAC desktop with 10.5.7. Worked a couple months ago. Fired it up and nada.

Make absolutely sure that your operating system's version is compatible with Pro Tools.

Other than that, there's a reason Pro Tools is an industry standard.

I've used a Digi Rack 002 on a windows system that has worked flawlessly for the last 5 years. You might check on the DUC forum and see if anyone there can help. I think this is the URL

http://duc.digidesign.com/

I have used PT since '98 and won't use anything else. It has been solid as a rock for me through all versions.

yeah man not sure what to say, if it worked at one time, and now it doesn't, then something perhaps happened or got corrupted. I woudl start with trashing your digi database folders found on any of yoru drives, make sure no other program like i-tunes or garage band is using your digi engine, and start from there.. post on DUC, would be a shame to get rid of a perfectly good system, computer trouble shooting sucks but I am sure you can get it working very quickly

The PT8 platform is fine. Its the Digi 03 Rack that isn't cooperating. I got it when it first came out. Should have waited a while for them to get the bugs out. It may be this Core Audio thing too. Will get the Tech folks one last time and more than likely reinstall the software one more time. Then I will move on to Presonus. Anyway, turned off the $2000 kit and got out the $200 M-Audio Microtrack!

could be a firewire issue? perhaps trying plugging into a different slot on your computer, and trying a different cable.

If you're running a Mac, pick up a Metric Halo and buy Logic Studio. I don't like Pro Tools myself and don't have the money to spend on super nice converters.

If you want something that runs cross-platform, look into RME.

The only reason it is the industry standard is because it was there with DSP and low latency at a time when native systems didn't have the computer power and latency they produced was unaceptable to record live musicians. Today it is a different story. I also junked Protools, using Nuendo 4 as my prefered DAW. After Nuendo, editing with Protools is like being handcuffed while playing guitar.

all just opinions, have no problems if other people prefer other DAW programs, But having used it professoinally in studios and post studios (film work) it just works really well, and I dig the workflow, as do many many other people. so saying it sucks is a bit much, just because of dsp is not the only reason why its so widely used.

Actually your right. I doesn't suck but I find editing and routing etc is limited and much on PT compared to Nuendo.

I have read numerous reviews and a lot of them say save your money and buy the Digi002...

Try a Motu 828mkII....I hear they are pretty good.

Had nothing but problems with anything pro-tools connected on my Mac...having said that, the problems were of my own making....I'd upgrade the OS (I'm talking point revision) and find out that, for whatever reason, the driver was now incompatible.....then if I jumped up a whole version #....end up waiting months for a new driver...god damn!

Just as well, I can't play or record for shit anyway....

That must suck! I upgraded to 10.5.8 the other day and the drivers for my Metric Halo, which were released several months back, haven't seen the first glitch or hitch. I've never had any problems in regard to this.

Your the second thumbs up for Nuendo here. What DAC are you using?

Thx,
Steve
