I have a very simple question regarding the proper use of the volumes on my herbert. I have had different answers regarding this from several people and hope that Mr. Peter Diezel will answer this for me. Which will give me a sweeter warmer tone?Do i crank the master volumes and work off of the channel volumes to increase and decrease volume or do I crank the channel volume and work off of the master volume to increase of decrease the volume? Thank you guys. Your help or opinions is greatly appreciated.

Virtually every MV amp I have ever played, including Diezels, have a warmer tone by cranking the channel volume and managing overall volume with the MV.

I've recently been sitting my channel volumes at 1 o clock and the MV around 10 o clock.

i agree with you again

Mako MAK2 works the other way round. Crank the master and use ch vols to tame the dBs.

In VH4 I have tried both ways and both worked well. In my opinion the higher ch volumes increased compression, esp. in ch 3. Currently I use higher master higher and ch vols a bit lower.

I have no idea about Herbert.

Thank you guys for your replies. I would still like to get Peter Diezels opinion on the proper way to push my herbert from the builders perspective. Again. Thanks to all that replied to my prior post.

Channel volume on about 3 oclock. doesnt get too compressed. and master...well... loud! just about knocks you off your feet!!

I'm hoping 12'o clock channel volume and then tame it with the master :p.

Tried bout 1 o clock channel volume and used master to increase and decrease volume at rehearsal last night. Got some really sweet tones. Cut through the mix perfectly. Using channel 2 for rhythem and leads now.
