I have/had both but not at the same time:
Archon has great cleans. 5153 cleans are pretty good but they're nothing to write home about.
5153 is more versatile as it has 3 channels. Plus the 5153 eq is more reactive than the Archon.
The Archon is really hard to dial in a shitty sound though.
While the Archon doesn't really NEED a boost, it does make it more modern if need be.
The 5153 doesn't need a boost at all IMO.

I had both at the same time along with a MK V:25. It really depends on what you are after. The 5153 sounds brighter, and tighter, but the Archon can sound huge, but with great note definition. Also the Archon responds much better to rolling down the volume on the guitar. To me the Archon was a lot better, not even close for my preference.
