Also... another thing I'm a huge fan of is the Tremol-No... if you don't use your trem that often they are mandatory IMO... with it locked your guitar will NEVER go out of tune... or you can have it "dive only" if you'd like... I'll never own another floating trem guitar without one...

I got a get me one of these tremol no things, great idea.

Big Bends nut sauce changed my life... no bullshit... I know there are other products out there that people on here swear by as well, and I'm not discrediting those... but honestly, I can't live without it... speaking of which, I actually need to order some more..

The first time I used it I literally laughed out loud the second I was done changing strings...

Also, on an unrelated note, the new Ernie Ball Cobalt strings hold tuning better than ANY strings I have EVER used... I'm obviously not endorsed or anything, just saying, if you have a guitar that is giving you some trouble and is fussy, can't hurt to maybe try a different brand of string with that guitar...

But seriously, get yourself some nut sauce STAT!

Thanks for the advice, but...what's a nut sauce STAT?

Guys... The problem went away when I filed the nut a tiny bit, and started colouring it in with a pencil (IKEA).

Thank you so much for the help! I can not describe how happy I am with the guitar now. Especially now that I have miraculously found the perfect action for it (that tiny tiny bit of filing the job).

Thanks again.

Hi, I'm new here...I have the same exact problem with my 24...do you think a new nut would help instead of filling the current nut?

Thanks

It is more than likely an issue with the nut. I'd take it to a good luthier, and have them take a look. They may be able to properly slot the nut without having to replace it. That said, it's not too expensive to have a good bone nut cut, and if done properly, will eliminate these binding issues.

Thank you very much for the advice, I'm taking my guitar to a luthier tomorrow, hope it works, ...cause I think this nuts cost like 50 bucks...not so expensive I guess

As an custom 24 owner, I have to say that I recognize this situation. I've found that one has to keep a keen eye on setup and intonation to avoid tuning problems, especially when seasons change. Tremol-No seems like a good advice for me as I almost never use the trem. Thanks!

What gauge strings are you using? PRS set everything up for 9's out of the factory so upping the gauge you might need to file the nut to give a nice smooth string travel. Also PRS nuts are compensated to sweeten the intonation so if replacing go for an original nut.

The issue could be at the saddle end, I recently has to smooth out the metal on the saddles on my CE22 as they were getting indented by the strings . I only had issues on the G and D but I did the lot for good measure. Its been sweet ever since although I am hankering after some graphtec saddles, maybe even some piezo ones...

I have used PRS trem's for years with little issues. The secret as you found is a small amout of filing from time to time as well as a good lube. I get the radio shack precision oiler because it works like a charm, doesn't leave a mess and is $4 instead of $20. Someone mentioned the saddles and that could be the culprit too. When I had a ce-24 I put the graph tech saddles on there and it made a huge difference and looked cool too! Good luck I bet it's something simple.
