PRS guitar. Am I crazy?

Am I crazy for liking this guitar? It has fucking bats instead of birds for fucks sake but I dig it. Really like my Torero, would probably get along with this one.

i just seem to like a maple neck better than mahogany, and maple isn't as easy to find on shorter than 25 1/2 guitars.

Don't think the board radius is as flat as the torero, I think closer to what the norm for PRS is...if that's a big deal? I really wanted to grab a grey black torero, but I just don't feel comfortable on those flat shreddy necks They are unique, the bats are not for everyone - I think they're kinda cool and different. Cradle of Filth freaks would love this guitar, maybe not alot of others since its a sig. resale would be tough maybe.

Those PRS trems are pretty darn stable. Unless you're gonna do divebombs ala Dimebag, they'd stay in tune just fine.

You know, I am a floyd guy all the way but, I played a USA custom 24 with whatever the hell that trem is and I really, really liked the feel. Something about a raised fixed bridge(Gibson) that I can't play for shit. This PRS trem is easy as hell for me to play and play fast.

sad thing is that the "Flamed Maple Veneer" is bullshit
it's a photoflame
at least the SE custom 24 I had didn't have a maple top at all
you could see the body woods collage through the "maple" top
I got really pissed with that

I saw and played one of these at GC a few weeks ago when I was just killing time. Just picked it up without looking at it thinking it was just another PRS. I instantly liked it. I love the neck and the EMGs. I would take this over ANY other PRS (not taking resale in to account ). I think PRSs are fine guitars but I just don't like the way they feel. This one was different. HOWEVER, I cannot get past those stupid bats! Just give me dots. Even better, No dots. I think they wanted less than $600 for it.

Apperently I can overlook the bats because I just worked out a deal to put a clutch in a friend of mines car who owns a music store. He is ordering in the Green for me. It was a toss up between this one and the Mike Akerfelt signiture se. Maybe have to get that one later.

If it's not the real deal - flamed maple - than NO, I would NOT buy this thing even if it was $500. Apologies for my previous assumption - I thought it was flamed maple, and if the guitar isn't proper wood with proper wood character and attitude, I say no. If it's not the real deal - and a "photo flame" as mentioned above, I'd prefer the same guitar in an opaque color rather than a fake veneer.

I think it's a fine guitar no doubt. I would get red myself. But I don't like the bats. Don't like the birds either. I like the way it feels. The neck is super nice. Good quality guitar no matter where it's made. I don't really buy anything based on resale value. Believe it or not, I don't have GAS! I have two guitars and pretty much just play one. If I did need or want another, this would be great.

If it's not the real deal - flamed maple - than NO, I would NOT buy this thing even if it was $500.
