It's been my experience that you can't go wrong w/BKPs. Also, you can hit em up via email...tell em what your guitar is, what the woods are, what you play through and what you want to sound like. Tim and Ben are experts when it comes to their pups, and won't steer you wrong....they'll tell you what to put in there, even if you aren't sure yourself...I never really would have thought of a Painkiller in a maple Strat, but it works.
