After Pearl Harbor, they could have just put the Japanese fleet to the bottom of the Pacific and told them to stay on their side of the Pond ..

Not ignored the early warning and met them on the water and in the skies before they ever got too Hawaii.... But they let it happen to drag us into it...

Meeting them NW of Hawaii on December 5 would have been a challenge. The Japanese definitely had the US outgunned at that point....the drastic and fervent effort to re-arm and become the best navy on earth came AFTER Pearl Harbor.
