The CCV really is a fantastic amp. I don't care about all the politics behind it. I bought my production version used so I don't have any concern.

Seems like most clips are all really high gain. It does that well but it's more versatile. I just ran in the other room and made this clip in about 2 minutes. It's a lame iPhone clip at low volume but I think it shows that it can do more than heavy gain stuff. No touching the amp, just pickup and volume changes on my Les Paul. I wasn't shooting for perfect tone here, just different sounds. No effects. Just natural 'verb from the room.

Friedman and many other builders voice their amps the same way. There is nothing exclusive about Cameron amps, just the shitty reputation of the builder. Do some sound good yes but there are thousands of amps that sound good.

This amp can easily do the brown thing. It has two 3-way switches on the back that change voicing and gain levels. It also had a 1/2 power switch on the front that brings it into that sweet spot. The presence is also push/pull for a different voicing and is actually wired to be an adjustable negative feedback knob. What's nuts is it can go from a great hard rock sound to a tight modern sound. No need to any pedals to tighten it up for modern metal. It also has a metro loop.

I had the metro loop on my CCV (Brad era) and it seemed to alter the tone a bit so I sent it to Mark for some tweaking. He had it done for me within a few days and I got it back a week later. Great customer service.

I've always run my amps in the lower clipping setting, as well; sounds great!
