Putting tuner after the preamp

I am putting together a rack, consisting of:

Mako Mak4, Korg DTR-1, Fryette 2562

Keeping it simple with no effects, and was wondering if it would be a good idea to put the Korg tuner after the preamp output.

The reason I'm contemplating it is because I heard the Korg will suck tone, and I noticed that there are TWO outputs on the back of the Mak4. Am I correct in assuming that I can wire the output1 to my power amp and output2 to the tuner? Not sure why there are two outputs on the preamp in the first place! Maybe someone could explain. Perhaps running the tuner after the preamp will render it inaccurate.

The other choice would be just guitar>tuner>preamp>power amp>cab, with no way of splitting the signal and isolating the tuner in its own loop.

Honestly, get it direct off guitar or some kinda line out (thru) to do the tuner so that it's out of the signal chain. Worst case scenario, get a TB tuner up front and call it a day. You won't get a truly accurate reading with a tuner post preamp as the distortion will have an effect on the accuracy. IMHO, YMMV and I own a Mak4 FWIW.

You could always consult the manual, or look up the pdf online.

When I had my mak4 I used the second output to go to the tuner, but if you are planning on performing live I would think about using an A/B box so that it will mute the power amp when you are tuning. The "tone suck" from the tuner is most likely because it is not meant for a guitar to be plugged directly in. The output from the mak4 is buffered so there should be no tone suck using it that way. Then you can just switch the power amp onto standby when tuning just be sure to select the clean channel for tuning. It should still work on the distortion channel, I know my peterson VS-1 can tune pretty accurate to a distorted signal.

Thanks for chiming in, this is what I was hoping to hear. I am worried that the tuner won't be good after the preamp but seems like it will actually work okay! Don't have any current plans to play on stage lately, but keeping the power amp on standby while tuning is a great solution :)

When you mention the A/B box, do you mean it would be more convenient over the previous method of power amp on standby, preamp in clean channel?

Nice to hear from someone who also has a Mak4! If possible, I would like to split the signal at guitar out, but not sure how to do that without introducing another pedal/device, as the 8U rack is already filled up.

Good idea, just thought I'd ask first :) thought it could have been an obvious design feature that I was oblivious to.
