I know these are all the rage and people love them, but i'm having an issue. This headstock they show as the Charvel replacement is unacceptable. The flattened out spot before the rounded end. Ugly.

It seems their Strat replacement headstocks are normal though.

Anyone know what the deal is here? I can't order one if it's going to look like that.

Lastly, assuming this can be figured out... anyone know which MusiKraft profile is the modern Charvel neck profile? I can't seem to find that info. My guess is C81 94?

AFAIK the only way to avoid that possibility is to order in quartersawn maple.

Which i plan to do anyway, but it doesn't specify that i'll NOT get a wonky headstock shape if i order quartersawn. Just incase... i'm referring to the flattened out spot before the rounded end.

I do have an email out to them as well. If i don't hear back, then i'll call. I just know a lot of people here have these necks, so i figured i'd get a general consensus.

I see it now (did not fully read I guess). I've been under the impression that all of their Charvel headstocks have that shape with the slightly flat area from looking at their site in the past.

I edited it with the proper issue. I see what you saw and realized that my issue is not that obvious.

On another forum, they seem to think this is something they have not seen. Doing image search for Charvel MusiKraft doesn't really show this odd shape either.

If its unacceptable don't order from Musikraft then. I think I have 8 or 9 of them, most I ordered myself. For me they were close enough but I'm not out to try to fool anyone. I care more about the profile and the ones I ordered are fatter/beefier necks as I love fat necks

some are pictured here if you want to do a comparison between Jackson or GMW's strat heads http://www.shawnlutz.com/myguitars.htm

Thank you. I'll check out the pics and see. I just don't get it. They are licensed by Fender, but can't use the correct Charvel headstock?

I have no intentions of fooling anyone. I just want my neck a specific way and they can do it for me. I just don't like the design of that headstock. At least how it's presented in that picture.

Plus i have seen loads of MusiKraft necks on Charvels they don't have that flat spot. So it was just a general inquiry.

In the end, i'll probably just make a neck.

Edit: See all yours have a more rounded progression to the rounded end. They don't look abrupt. they look natural. The picture on their site is almost flat and abrupt. Almost like a third shape added in the middle. This is why i'm confused.

OK. I got this from Musikraft

I think that flat spot is exaggerated in that picture for some reason. I really don't see it on our ones here in the shop. In any event, if you would still rather order a strat neck, you can do that and just order it to the specs you want and it should be fine. Make sure you order the correct heel width as most Charvels are 2-1/4"
The most common back pro for the Charvels is the pro mod C.

Perfect. What i needed to hear.

I know Charvel purist don't like the Musikraft necks because they aren't exact when it comes to a Charvel replica neck. There was another luthier who made identical Charvel necks but I can't remember if he was shut down by FMIC or if he still is around. Maybe someone else here remembers the guy or his company's name?

Yeah. I ordered from MusiKraft. The customer service was awesome back and forth and even they seem perplexed by the image on their website,

I ordered specs as close to possible to the Charvel neck i have. It doesn't have to be exact.

Last year I ordered a neck from them, the Pro Mod C 79 85 shape, while it's a nice neck it's much fatter and nothing like my USA Pro Mod/San Dimas neck at all, also had a issue with the frets, when it came the frets were sticking out off the edges, after contacting their customer service they paid to ship it back and take the fret edges down..

Man I am having a terrible time with Musikraft. Ordered a body with a non-recessed Floyd route, and they damn near put the bushings into the tremolo cavity. I don't see how the finished guitar could intonate correctly and the bushing might just tear out because there's maybe 1mm of wood behind it. But their response was looks good to me!

I'm still waiting on the neck I ordered from them. Hopefully they don't screw that up and will be willing to do the right thing about the body once it can't be denied the intonation is way off.

If you order from them, good luck.

For the life of me I don't know why they claim to be Charvel replica, not even close to the same. However, Lee Garver will reshape it to make it way closer IF it's part of a build he does for you.

I don't care if they are exact at all honestly. I just need it to be comfy. If it needs re-shaping, i can do that myself. I used to be a builder myself till i ran out of time to do so. I still have my shop in my basement however.

That spot looks terrible. I also have an issue with the nut holes being drilled. The hole distances are different between R3, R5, etc. The holes in the picture look to be drilled a bit wide?
