I don't think you will like the Soldano better than the Splawn

Plus the Soldano loop is shit

I do love this clip however

From what I've read. The loops in the hot rod series are quite good, nothing like the ones in the SLO.

6505+ thats the amp .....Ive had all the amps you mentioned. If you want the Killswitch Engage type of tone that is it, all you need is a good overdrive infront such as a Maxon 808. Dont believe what someone said about falling apart at high volume. The peavey slays at high volume in a live mix, that guy must have had bad tubes or something wrong with his amp. I use mine in a two guitar band and the more I turn up the better it sounds not the other way around.

Soldano , I have ownrd SLO , HotRod 100 and an Avenger 50. Out of those three the Avenger did Metal the best but it had no clean channel and no loop.

Splawn Ive had Nitro and Quickrod , cool amps but like you are right.. if you want saturation and fast attack you would be better with a 5150/EVH/Soldano type amp.

My "Hot Rod" Avenger 100 with my Les Paul loaded with EMG's sounds crushing without a boost & with a boost.

How is the quickrod for Saturation? I've always been a huge fan of Marshall style tones but could never get the gain amount nor saturation amount out of most of them.

See, I thought the Avenger sounded absolutely AMAZING! But there's no clean ch... I need a clean side! I'd love to try a Decatone...

Yeah, I sometimes miss a clean channel but for what I play, I don't really need one. I play Hardcore music, like Terror, Agnostic front, Madball, Hatebreed, Sick of it all.

Yeah most of what I play is in that realm, but I love playing bluesy stuff too. I have a very odd taste in music. Anything from Waylon and Cash to Gary Moore and Bonamassa and then back to The Acacia Strain, Pantera, Bury Your Dead etc. I play it all lol Or at least attempt to!

The Hot Rod will cover any of that with ease. Yes, the Splawn is badass, and I'm not going to say one is better than the other, but I will say that in terms of character, Soldano has a character all their own whereas Splawns don't really have a signature sound that you can recognize as a Splawn on an album.

I'm Right there with you. I was recently at a concert for Ozomatli....Look them up if you've never heard them. I listen to anything from Cash to Tito Puente.

I have a Splawn Quickrod and a SLO. I don't find them similar at all. They are both great amps but together are beyond badass. I think you have to spend time with them to see which is going to be better for your needs. It's all in what you're trying to get out of it

Look into an Engl.

I very briefly had an Invader 100... I hated it, but I might be open to trying another one but right now I am looking to sell and buy, or trade. I can't afford anything out of pocket lol

My 5150 sucked at high volume, tubes were good, biased right, etc. my next amp was a VHT Pit Bull... problem solved.

This is comical .... Dont get me wrong VHT amps are great I had a Ultralead and a CLX but There must have been something wrong with your 5150 , I mean think about it there has been countless well known rock and metal bands that use the 5150 on tour , sucking at high volume is just not the case with them. If anything they sound better when you turn them up.

Out of all the 5150s and 6505s I've had, I've never had one sound bad turned up. My only complaint was the lack of a usable clean. I even tried different preamp tubes to drop down some gain and it helped, but not enough. Those amps are the best low buck metal amps ever built.

I had the amp checked by a good tech, I hated it. I know there are countless guys that use them even today (that's why I bought it) but it didn't work for me. The louder it got the rattler it got. The nice full, warm tone that it had at low volume was lost and it just got ratty. Cripes, even my drummer and bass player said it sounded like shit.

Never trust a bass players opinion... lol

I decided to pass on the 50... I'm talking to a guy a little further away but still close about trading for his EVH 5150III. Still has the original box for it and reciept. Claims it's only 4 months old
