Question about the recording out on the Rebel 30

Hey guys,
I've never used the recording/line out on the Rebel 30.

If, for example, I'm playing in a live situation, can I use the line out to send a signal to the board instead of putting a mic on the cab? And, if I do this, can I also have the cabinet engaged? Or do I have to put it into silent/recording mode for the line out to work? I guess I'm asking if I use the line out on the back to go to feed a PA, will it work if I'm in regular play mode?

Thanks!

Duh - downloaded the manual...looks as if you can use the line out with the speakers also operational.

Anyone done this in a live setting? how did you like it? I normally mic the cab, but I'm playing a small bar soon with my band where we need to minimize stage volume. I figured using the DI feature might be a more effective way of doing this. I may also try it with the cab sim and no speaker just to see what it sounds like as well...

I think the line out is great but can't you test it out in rehearsal first to see if you like it ?

Well unfortunately we're not going to get to rehearse before this gig due to work commitments  But, we will have plenty of time in the bar before it opens to mess around with it. Honestly, if we do turn our cabs around backwards, I can probably just mic it and be fine, knowing I like the sound that way. But I am curious to know how the DI sounds, both with the speaker engaged and without!
