I hear if you do use a 4x12 it has to be 16ohm. Well, the only cab I have is 8ohm....what should I do? I tried it for a few minutes and it sounded ABSOLUTELY TITS!!! But, I quickly shut the amp down bc I didn't want to ruin anything.

Advice? I'm guessing running both the combo with its 2x12 speakers along with the 4x12 of my Splawn cab would sound better/fuller than just the Splawn cab alone...right? I know the 6x12's sounded INFINITELY better than just the combo alone

Also, 2nd question....do you think there is anyone out there (like JerryP) that can remove the head portion from the combo and maybe build a custom head shell? or put it in a rack system? lol

This combo sounded sooooo TITS with the 4x12.

BUMP.

Should I just try and trade my Splawn cabinet for a similar quality 16ohm 4x12 Cab?

Seriously....the sound of the combo combined with the 4x12 was fucking intense!

BTW, if the only negative aspect of running my 8ohm cabinet into the extension cabinet jack is my tubes will wear out faster (maybe 2x as fast)....then that's fine for now lol

Isnt there an impedence switch so that you can switch it to 8 ohms?

If you are going to chop it, the 8 ohm 4x12 is good to go. That amp should not see anything below 8 ohms.

No. I contacted Peavey when I had mine and they said only run a 16ohm cab.

yeah Keith, I wouldn't run the 8ohm 4x12 cab without chopping the combo first. Is it a 16ohm speaker in the combo? If so, it's probably using the external jack in parallel with the internal speaker, so you would wind up with an 8ohm total load at the head. I've seen it done though, Raf(rbasaria on here) did it with his. You should hit him up, I know he really dug that head.
