I am looking at their charts. http://www.ghsstrings.com/strings/electric/boomers-2

Does the DY next to string guage mean that string is nickel wound? I assume so just looking for a 2nd opinion.

I do prefer nickel wound 3rd string and am looking to order some online because my dealer stopped carrying them.

The GHS Boomers Roundwound that you are refering to are nickel plated steel strings and this is what the DY means. I have been using the GBL since the 80s. Here are the round third string versions of the Boomer Roundwounds.

DYXL .010 .013 DY18 DY26 DY36 DY46
DYL .012 .015 DY24 DY32 DY40 DY52
DYM .013 .017 DY26 DY36 DY44 DY56

Thanks maniac, thats kind of what I thought. I have used DYL for a very long time, but after seeing their list I may actually order some DYXL to give the smaller strings a shot.

The main reason for the DYL use was that nickel 3rd. After my dealer stopped carrying them I immediately switched to GHS 10's.

I had no idea the DYXL existed.

edit: I do find it odd that they named the lightest pack in the family dyXL
