I have a bunch of gear and guitars but only have 2 guitars with Seymour Duncans in them, korean Epi Les Paul Custom with the SD Hot Rodded Set JB/Jazz and a custom built super strat that has a single JB with push/pull Alpha 500K volume pot, squier body (don't know what kind of wood the body is made of?) was told it might be Basswood or Alder? The Epi, custom built super strat and my Charvel Model 5fx all are setup for Drop B tuning right now for my original modern metal band. The Gibson Les Paul Special came from the factory with the P-100's, it's setup for 1/2 step below E tuning and has a Dimarzip p90 super distortion in the bridge.

I have some questions about the new Duncan 59/Custom that just came out? Would this be a good pickup for modern metal and other styles as well too? My Charvel is the only guitar I have with active EMG's and what I was thinking was maybe swapping the trembucker JB in the super strat with squier body with a Duncan 59/Custom, keeping the push/pull pot in it and putting the trembucker JB in the bridge of Charvel with Poplar body and getting a nice sounding single coil for the slant neck position for it? Any thoughts?

These should help you get a sense of what the 59/custom is about. I just ordered one for myself for a versatile H/S/S setup to play hard rock and metal in D standard. I don't think it'll disappoint!

I'm thinking about having the EMG 85 bridge and slant SA taken out of my Charvel Model 5fx poplar body and having a trembucker Duncan 59/Custom put in the bridge. It's setup for Drop B tuning right now for my original modern metal band.

Would this be a good pickup for modern metal? What would be a nice sounding SD single coil for the slant neck position for it?

i dunno

all the pickups sounded great on that demo

the 59 hybrid sounded very djenty!
