Does anyone know of any Scams on Reverb,
like there is on Craigslist?
I sold a guitar on Reverb, the person bought it
without any corespondence with me. Put the money
in my Paypal account and gave me a P.O. Box #.
UPS won't ship an Item of that Value to a PO Box,
They need a physical address for someone to sign
for it. Could they get the Guitar and then open a
reverse claim with PayPal?
Just wondering if it's the start of a Scam that I'm
not aware of....Help me out here!
Thanks, Rick

That sounds like a reverse scam  he's scammed himself.

You've got his money and his guitar, and he's provided no valid shipping info.... .? There are a blue million scams for sure, but this dude needs to provide a valid addy of no shippy, and refund from you.

I've done a few deals on Reverb. Haven't seen anything scammy. To be honest, it doesn't seem like a good place for a scammer. The Reverb team are regular dudes who love guitars and gear etc. I'm pretty sure they would back you up. They want to keep their business thriving, they will take care of regular Joes.

I have had people buy items/send pp immediately without talking to me. I don't like it, but at the same time I'm happy that the item sold. Hit him up via PM on Reverb. If he doesn't get back to you, contact the Reverb team. I wouldn't be all that worried.

You need to message him and tell him it can't be shipped to a PO box. You may need to refund him. Reverb is like Ebay for music gear only, and with lower fees. You don't really have to talk with the buyer/seller, just leave feedback,

I never contact the seller on Reverb when I buy something. Their process is pretty straight forward. I pay, they ship. It's pretty rare that a buyer contact me as well.

Dan here from Reverb. This is most likely just an oversight on the buyer's part. If you want to get in touch with us direct at support@reverb.com, we're more than happy to help sort this one out. Thanks!

Yup, I've been using Reverb since late last year. I have only had excellent experiences with the site. During business hours staff will chat with you in real time, and out of the 5-6 things I've purchased, I've only rated one person less than 5 starts, and it was 4 stars. I'm not too troubled about receiving payments without talking to someone (it happens all the time on eBay), though I usually have at least a small exchange with sellers/buyers.

The mobile app still needs some work, but it's coming along. The optimized version of the site for mobile in a browser is pretty good - I'd just have the app link to that instead of having a dedicated app (and instead of paying someone to develop/manage it if it's not in house).

Reverb.com is highly reputable vehicle for sales and purchasing. It was more than likely an honest mistake by the buyer.

This is a cool post!

Props to Dan for offering assistance!

Signature required is the safest way.

3.5% fee for Reverb, and PayPal gets their normal cut in addition to that. I think PayPal takes 3%. So you're looking at 6.5% compared to Ebay's 10% + 3% (PayPal).

I've sold a few items on Reverb and had great experiences each time. Much preferred to Ebay.

Reverb being a reputable site has zero to do with an individual member's honesty; I'd be very skeptical of someone who didn't communicate, and has a PO Box for an address.

There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation, but I'd be asking for a Postal Money Order if someone was looking for an oddball shipping arrangement.

YES
I agree with others in this thread saying that
it is very cool of you to chime in!!!
Someone bought a Guitar from me on Reverb
and contacted me a day later...just seemed wierd
to me. I'm accustomed to buyers asking 10,000
questions before purchasing.
Everything has worked out fine, thank you all for
your replys..Rig-Talk Rules!

VERY nice! You wouldn't get anywhere near this level of support from eBay.
