I used the 4 cable method with no effects on, no preamp on and also another patch with a bit of delay only. No matter what I did, the amp sounds like it's got a phase effect going on. It just doesn't sound raw or close to it anyway. On the GT10 the Send Return levels are half way (100 out of 200), and I'm running it though the serial loop of my amp. Am I doing something wrong?
Hey man, I am gonna make a vid soon "GT-10 for Dummies like me who don;t want the modeling"
Here is the deal I learned so far. Ok Set the Diezel to omni, and the GT-1 to Omni.
Then you can now switch and store which Diezel channel to a user preset.
Ok then if you want just raw diezel distortion say ok? no FX for example.
Go to system and select the first screen and fiddle and lower the left ouput about 3 db if you are using EMG's.
Now the key is this, turn off ALL FX especially the preamp button. The make sure you go in to the send/return menu and fiddle with the send and retrun levels until it sounds transparent to your ears. This is tedous but worth it, as you don;t want to change your diezel settings, you want to find the right S/R on the GT-10 for the patch so that it sounds as close as no alteration (no boss products have true bypass) ok then also on the main patch screen you can set the patch from 1-100. For no FX set it low or to where there is not a volume change or tone,. I am not in front of it now, but pretty sure that you may set it to 0 for no patch what so ever. Not sure about that.
the long and skinny of it is you really need for each preset play around with the S/R on the Gt-10 and all the FX are off but which ones you want. I found there is no master number for S/R....each prest I found I need to fiddle till it sounds right like say my chorus clean preset has different send and return settings. And also make sure you use the 4 cable method and run it serial NOT parallel.
Also one last thing.....even with the preamp effect OFF, STILL go into the preamp menu and change it from dual to single. For some reason if if off, it gives a boost.
So I know sound like a pain in the ass doing all this but once it is all set up, the results are great. For $499 you have a midi switcher for channles tons of FX, so silly but fun ilike the auto riff and some of the synth's. The manual sucks asspipe, so a great place to ask questions isthestompbox.net in the Boss?roland forums. I found the Boss GT-10 forums not very usefull.
Hope this helps!
