Can I use this cable from my pedalboard http://www.redco.com/shopdisplayproduct ... nake+Cable instead of buying a send cable, return cable, input to amp cable. Plus I could wire up my footswitch cable and have just one cable instead of all these other cables wrapped up all big and bulky.

Sure it would be tedious soldering all my ends but it also would cheaper in the long run and look alot better

Think it would work??

i'm confused on how they are describing the conductors in the cable. I'm actually an EE but i'm not entirely sure if this would work for guitar as well as it works on mic snakes. http://www.colomar.com/Shavano/snake_cable_diy.html

It works for speaker cable which is also unbalanced... But these conductors on the mogami cable look really thin, may only be designed for mic's and in the studio. So for an unbalanced guitar signal, I think its too thin but I could be wrong. One possibility is if there are 2 conductors with an outside ground (a la balanced cable/mic cable like how it should be), it may be possible to use those 2 inner wires together to in essence be twice as thick of a wire (since we only care about unbalanced cables here). However you'd still be limited to about 25' because they are unbalanced unless you have a buffer it may be able to go longer lengths.

EDIT: the more I think about soldering both ends of the twisted pair, the more I think its a bad idea so forget that part of what I suggested as a possibility. That may result in a screwed up frequency response. I think using the snake cable would work, you just not use 1 of the 2 wires in each "core"... on paper it looks like it'd work. The problem with the snake cable that I see is there will be more noise b/c smaller shield size. Keep in mind mic systems are designed to eliminate noise by being balanced so its not as big of a problem when using snake cable for mics. Guitar cables have no way of cancelling noise like balanced cables do.

I've used snake cable for running to and from my rack/amp for a long time. At one point, I was running MIDI, to amp, and FX send/return all on the same snake, using a 14 pin locking connector on both ends, with break out boxes. Worked like a charm, I just had to make sure all my cables were shielded at the connectors to keep the MIDI from causing hiccups in the audio.
