Do you remember which cab/speaker you used with your SD when you had it?

My 80s I ran through Genz G-flex cabs or the stock speakers. The 45s, 30s and the 18 I ran with stock Budda speakers. I did try some Celestions and a couple other cabs here and there, but I liked the Budda speakers the best!

Cool clip Vlad! I love the Budda voicing!Vrad":2cvj18vv said:ratter":2cvj18vv said:Very cool, very cool. The boost must add some nice sizzle/grind. Mine without a boost never sounded like that!
The boost does add some grind to it. I love it. I set up the level to be the same as the amp unboosted, then added just a bit of overdrive (9:00).

Pedals are great in front of my SD18. It's not bright, it's more on the darker side.
I find an OCD is great for addng more gain while keeping the tone pretty much the same...while the Yngwie DOD distortion pedal is great at adding gain and that nice extra hair/top-end. The DOD Yngwie pedal is like adding another channel to the amp that's more vicious, gainy and bitey, it works really well, it acts almost like a top boost pedal, great for any darker type amp.

What didn't you like about the OCD?boost":28wxk1n3 said:I haven't gotten the OCD to well with the SD80 yet. Went back and forth a few times with the EP Boost and always went with the EP. I need to try the OCD on 18V. I like it on 18 through a slightly overdriven EL84 amp but not sure about the Budda.

So here's something funny. I used to swear by the SD-1 with the SD80 when I used 8ohm Greenies. I've since switched to 16ohm and I think the SD-1 sounds too damn shrill.![]()

Set as a boost for solos, the OCD just sounded like I stepped on a pedal (I know). The EP just got nice raunchier type of tone as if I had a hotter pickup or something, which is what I was going for. I messed with the OCD, but it was noisier than the EP and fed back in a bad way. The amp sounded better with it off and just would not sound better with it on no matter how I set it. I like the OCD with my EL84 amp which is why I still have it. The EP just works better for me, but I am still looking for something with a little more control. Possibly a RC or BB I'd like to try out.
