Have a lead on a MKIV for $1800 and my friend also offered me to buy his MKIII that I demoed for you guys last weekend for a nice price. What do you fine gentlemen recommend??

??I kind of do! But also I feel like they all sort of sound the same but they do have a different feel

I’d grab a triple rec, my old two channel rips. If I could only have one amp for everything I’m taking that. You got the mark ground covered

Is the IV an A or B version? If A, I’d opt for it. If not, would prefer III red stripe… just my personal preference, among those choices. Or, get a Tremoverb. ??

I generally prefer most iii’s since they sound more raw & aggressive, but they have harsher highs than other marks. I think the iii has more contrast in sound to what you already vs the IV. I'd probably do though what RacerU4her said and get an old 2 ch Recto instead

I love the highs on the IIIs . My favorite thing about it . It aggressive to me and my ear loves it . But ya the III does give him more contrast fr

IV. Not even close IMO. IV can get closer to a C+ than any III I've played, if that's important. No harshness in the IV.

I love that grind the III has . I don’t get why people say this . I love the highs lol just shows how different we all can be .

IVa. I've gone back and forth from IVa's to III's and c+'s at least half a dozen times. The IVa is closer to the III's tonal character but smoothed out juuuust enough, and you get the better switching options. The other IV's are great too, but there is just more compression and stiffness going on, on all 3 channels.

you really gotta play em both and decide what you like best, if you have that option.

I prefer the Mark IVB. To me, it has a bigger sound. What stripe is the III?

The 3 would depend in the stripe and the price. IV A's also kill FWIW.
