quick power tube question

Normally I would search for my answer, but my phone will not let me do that :/

Anyway, I was wondering what changes would I hear in my VH4 if I switched my power tubes from the EL34BG's to some JJ 6l6GC's? Just a rough comparison concerning the clean and gain channels I guess.

I know that some of you love the 6550's, but I definitely can't afford those.

I may try the KT77's that Peter is testing someday down the road as well.

I have switched back and forth for years between the two. EL34's deliver a tad more growl, but not a huge difference. The cleans are much better with 6L6GC's IMO.

you can try EH 6CA7 - is best of both worlds.
i stay with the recommended tubes - EL34 BHT @the herbert.

what tubes are in my hagen, peter?

I have EL34's in my Hagen.

But I think they come with KT77 stock now. Don't know when they made the change?

i knew about EL34 but not what type of the ruby's.
kt77 are very relieable, i heard.
