So let me share some thoughts since the honeymoon period has long been over. I currently own a BC Rich Mockingbird Archtop Supreme custom built for me in 1997. I also own a Washburn N4 and a Am. Std. Strat with diMarzios. Of my 4 guitars I play the JP6 BFR 80% of the time if not more. I have found it to be very comfortable and easy to play. The tone is full and punchy, thick yet clear. The strings ring clear with loads of sustain. The neck has proved to be stable which is impressive for two reasons. 1. the the neck is thin and I would think this would make it more prone to warping but it hasn't. 2. I live in PA where the winters are nasty and the humidity fluctuates big time. I use a humidifier to maintain a good level of moisture in the room. Still the neck has needed little attention and the guitar always plays great!! All in all this guitar has been a total pleasure to own. I'm sure I will own another EBMM guitar!!

Yeah those guitar absolutely rock! The only thing preventing me from buying one is i prefer thicker neck. Scince i broke my left wrist in a montainbike accident, ultra thin necks are now painfull to play.

Get yourself an Axis and and enjoy it's thick beautiful goodness of tone

Are you suggesting that the Axis sounds better than my JP6 BFR? :gethim: Actually if I get another EBMM, and prolly will since this one rocks so hard, yeah it prolly will be an Axis. Fellow forumite ratter has an old EVH version that absolutely smokes!

Very cool Jim, we need more long term reviews

My 3 year old charvel is still awesome, some paint from the floyd is gone, neck smells and is dirty, and have some cool checking starting to happen.

Scott thats the thing... we all post how great our new gear is, which is fine. But what about the gear that actually doesn't get sold within a few months??? I think we need to give long term reviews more often.

Very cool. I remember when you got yours, that gave me the final GAS to buy my JP6. Even thought I didn't get a BFR, I did get a limited edition color with a Ebony board and oiled neck. Very cool guitar. Best trem I've ever used. Stays in tune very, very well. But I'll have to admit that I've thought about swamping out pickups. The DiMarzios are OK, but I'm definitely a Seymour guy. Maybe even some Suhr PU's??

Anyway, it's a great guitar and I'm very happy to own it.

:) :)

tnourse I have to admit that the first time I saw that specific type of JP6 I wasn't into the color, but as time has past I think it's very cool. Love the inlays to. At the end of the day I think the the EBMM JP6 in any of it's variations is one of the finest shred guitars money can buy. The quality is just sick!!

The Dargie Delight is very cool!

Nice review.. I jones constantly for a BFR 7... one of these days I suppose ;)

My BFR is still my #1 guitar after 3 years.
Glad you still like yours Jim!

My transblack JP6 BFR has been my #1 now for about 3 years. Love it!

However, I recently ran into an issue. When I depress the bar (push down) then release it to come back up the overall pitch (all 6 strings) of the guitar goes sharp. When I pull up on the bar and then put it back to neutral it goes back in tune. It seems the floating bridge doesn't go back to neutral when I press down. I have no idea what is going on. Any advise would be appreciated. (sorry to hijack the thread)

:D Well, I never played a BFR plugged in but I had a JP6 for a while (older with the original pups). Compared to my Axis the JP didnt have the 'fatness' that the Axis has.

All my friends have played my EBMM's (Axis, JP, Silo, Luke, and Axis MM90)....All except one have come to the conclusion that my Axis not only sounds the best...but feels the best also  The one buddy plays in a Dream Theater trib band and is a total gear n00b. He was playing Jacksons and Ibanez guitars until I turned him on to a JP, and now he owns two of them! :D He's hooked

I would call EBMM tech support. If there is a logical reason for this they should have it figured out by now. My trem stays in tune pretty good but I feel nothing tops a locking trem in this department. I do prefer the trem on the JP6 because I like having immediate access to the tuners should I want to try a different tuning.
