Oh man, just watched a 2 hour documentary on his musical career. What a tragic thing. David was brilliant in music and more.

David was a true "chameleon" when it comes to art.

Can you provide information on the 2 hour special.

I would like to record that on my DVR...was it on Palladia, etc.?

I'm a early guy in the morning (5:00 AM). I was surfing through my 2 trillion channels and it was on the Entertainment channel here in San Diego. Your results where ever you are located will most likely vary. I was just shocked to here the news and then watch the documentary about David. From what I understand, David kept the fact that he was terminal ill with cancer for 18 months. David's last album was released just a few days before his demise. It's called "Blackstar" and is David's finale. From the documentary, David said it would be his farewell.

Rest assured, there will much more shows/documentaries about David's legacy.

David was and will still remain a brilliant influence and a true pioneer in music.

The lyrics are of a man knowing he is short lived.

Still in shock over this, light of genius that could not be denied..no matter what shape he filtered it through.

I stand corrected.

I watched a recent interview late last night of David hosted by "Charlie Rose". It was one hour and at the end of the interview Charlie asked David and I quote: what is you approach to writing music as a musician?" David answered bas saying "first, I'm not a musician, I don't know anything about reading or writing music, I record my expression and reference it from my recordings. I only use music to express myself" - end of quote.

This reminds me of a David Cavett interview with Jimi Hendrix in 1969 where at (51sec) into the intervies, Dick asked Jimi does he read music, and Jimi replied "NO"

I find that many creative guitarists are "stifled" by wasting time with reading music and prefer to let their creative talent pave the road.

51s into the interview.
