Probably my favorite RATM song of all time... I never knew that Maynard was on this track singing, but now that I listen back to it, its definatly him!!! Cool shit!!! Is this pretty much accurate to recreate Tom Morello's set up to recreate the effects used on that album??? I really dig that tune and that tone... and I know I might get flamed on here from some of you for that, but I dont care... I still like it for what it is! I just want to know if any of you know anything more than this link shows... maybe you guys could help me when choosing a pitchshifter/whammy/ect... to help me get there without tracking down all this gear, I dont know... maybe its wishful thinking, but I imagine its not that hard to recreate it.

Thanks, Chad

A Wah, a Whammy, and a kill switch on your guitar you can flick back and forth will get you 97% of his tones.

Love RATM :)

Ratm rules! It's all digitech whammy (but the 1st generation model only) I have heard countless people claim it sounds better...I want a comparison video!

:D

Yeah... Hopefully I get to see them in Germany this year when I leave this shithole in Afghanistan for R&R... 2 weeks back in Germany, and I think RATM is slotted to play on my birthday!!! BOOYAH!!!

I'm a big fan of ratm. I thought these videos were really cool and they gave some great insight into is sound/setup.

Whammy set for a fifth up on the intro.

For the whole song, even the solo. Use a kill switch to follow the chopping rhythm. Used to play that song with one of my old band. Sounds more difficult than it is.

One awesome song for sure.

Really dig RATM. Cool stuff. Serious attitude.

They embody everything that is lacking in most of today's music.

That sounds pretty promising to me!!! I love this community, thanks for the Tom Morello videos as well... you guys rock!

Glad to help. I should have been a bit more "precise". Whammy is used in the intro and solo, set it to a fifth up and rock your toggle switch! Have fun.

If you guy want an extreme left arm workout play it like this, use your fingers on your right hand and play it using power chords on the D and G string, sliding up and down the neck. You'll have to use a very staccato approach to emulate the kill switch. I actually played it like this a few times in a band when i didn't feel like putting that stupid whammy toy on my pedalboard.
