Hi guys !! well is been awhile since i last logged in.. anyway i was wondering if anyone did tried or played/owned a custom Ran guitars?? they seems really neat and they could get into hands of major works like jackson esp and bcrich.... i dont see it as an imitate but if is quality builted and tone surpasses ESP jackson or even suhr i am in for the game... kindly advice ! thanks

I heard mixed reviews over the years, I know when they first started they were a great high quality, low priced alternative to ESP and Jackson. For what they charge now not so much...

I think the guy that runs Guitars at Bmusic had some great side by side shots of a Ran copy and a ESP custom shop original and you can see why the ESP costs more. Plus there inlays look like poop.

I've read more complaints with 90s guitars more than recent ones. It's a steep price though.

IMO I would pass I only paid a little over 2500 for my custom shop Jackson king V made to my specs and a Ran is the same price.

I remember when you could get Ran to make you whatever you wanted for 1500 or less but now not so much. Did I mention their inlay work looks like shit. :aww:

Sorry but i really need to know the difference between ESP/Jackson to a Ran... would you mind send me your supporting claim?

ehh i wont not be doing inlay work so i guess besides their poor inlay job....others expect would be top notch? i am more particular in the construction... wood material if it warp from time to time? able to handle extreme weather conditons... their precision workmanship from head to tail...? and also lastly the tone of the guitar....

It's late at night and I have been drinking so I am going to be brutaly honets.

Ran guitars are like joke or a toy compared to the real thing, go to the Ran website and click on page 2 of the gallery, look at the Kerry King V. Now look at my real ESP Kerry King.

I am sorry but I will have to upload pics of my REAL Ken Lawrence explorer tommorow but compared to the RAN its a joke just a toy.

The ESP and KL are made from the best woods and attention to detail is second to none, the Ran I had seen is nice maybe for a high school kid.

Well thanks for your nice KK ESP pics !!! its certainly crazy and wild... but judging from Ran's gallery i didnt mean to be crude but i dont really see the much difference.... perhaps if your talking about the graphics and details which Ran had failed to copied... or maybe the shape which Ran had on their design..... well i respected in your opinion which ESP are still the real thing because they are the original and Ran does Custom in vien of ESP's .... i am still abit "skeptical" on things about Ran but i am certainly not treating Ran as imitated/copied guitars... more like a custom to certain liking of individual ideas and choices...

maybe i should have play on Ran personally lol thanks anyway !! really appreciate that

I've got two custom RAN guitars. They're exactly like I ordered them. Exactly. I have nothing to complain about.

The ESP's I've played felt good, but not "OH WOW GOTTA HAVE IT! GAS! GAS! GAS!"-good. Those RAN guitars are the only RAN's I've played, and they're made after my specifications, so I can basically say that: My design worked for me. Perfect. :)

Let's face it, a guitar that one guy would sell his mother to get, might be another guys drift wood.

That's one gorgeous guitar. I'm undecided about the inlay for my Ran, which is just going to be a typical black Invader.
