Randall has lost their minds! Are they on meth?

Now your post makes more sense. (y)
New ownership? And what's the deal with Fortin?

Point about MIC is they do all levels of price/quality.
Were previous Randalls not MIC?
I bought a Diavlo 100w for 799 new back in 2012….that was one of the worst amps I’d ever played through.
Fortins issue is with a few things….
1. Fairly obvious that he copied others work for 99% of his amps/pedals. Not based on; copied.
2. Hired a Douche named Zach who basically pumped up the brand; but if you dared say anything negative you were insulted and kicked out of the Fortin ‘army’
3. Some of his stupid expensive amps were partially made overseas but advertised as being made here or Canada. Also leading to faulty standby switches …

Correct me if I’m wrong about some of this. It’s too bad because by all accounts he’s a super nice guy…but has unfortunately made some questionable decisions

I bought one of their RG1503H heads, basically their modernized version of the old RG amps, for like $430 about a year ago, brand new, never been taken out of the box.

They're now going for right around $700.

I'll be shocked if they're still around in the next couple of years. Of course, people have been saying that for years now too, so who knows. :)

ive heard a lot of people predicting prices of everything going up for a long while now :dunno:
With Covid, shortages and the recent tensions with China a lot of companies are pulling their manufacturing out of China. And I'm not talking about guitar gear, these are big global companies. With that will come higher wages, higher cost of manufacturing which will equal higher prices.

$3000 for a Thrasher made in China is insane. I mean, you can buy a handmade amp made in the USA, Canada, Germany for that price. You could literally have James Peters handbuild you an amp for that price.

$3000 for a Thrasher.

Sure you don't mean the Savage 120 Mark II? That's the one I found for $3K.

One heck of an amp but still.

Maybe Randall's in debt to some retailers so they're adding extra margin on sales to cover it?????

I love my 1w Diavlo. I asked around about the 5w Diavlo and finally got to play one. Sounded horrible, I couldn't believe how much better the 1 w sounded....strange stuff.

Yeah I’ve read the 1w and one of the others is good, I think the 45? And the other couple are not good. Just saw the 1w is now $615 at musicians friend

No, he means the $2,899 Thrasher in the very first post of this thread

Yep the 45 is a much better sounding amp than the 100 that I bought. I couldn’t sell that thing fast enough

Our economy is at high inflation. Thought that was common knowledge. That’s essentially why everything is becoming more expensive. You see, when the supply outweighs the demand and money is pumped into the economy, it creates inflation of the currency.

So if these are the current top of the line MIC stuff - and the prices are off the charts.

What's the story with this stuff? Stupid cheap design made in Mongolia?

I bought the RG150H for about $430 a year or so ago. It's the 150 watt version of what you linked. Randall made (makes?) 3 versions. 100w, 150w, and 300w.

They sound like ass on their own, just woofy undefined mud for days... but throw a bass-cutting boost (and noisegate) in the front, and maybe an EQ in the loop if you want to get fancy, and oh man they're incredibly tight and brutal. You absolutely could not beat them at their old price.

They only do exactly that one thing and nothing else though.

They were Randall's attempt to re-ignite enthusiasm for their old solid state stuff. Personally, I think if they included something as simple as a switchable tube screamer style boost up front, they couldn't have made enough of them to keep up with demand. Then again they were basically never marketed so who knows. I happened to find out about them from some offhand comment in some youtube video.

I will also say that in my experience, they're not made all that well. I originally bought a 100w version, but when I took it out of the box, it made no sound. Testing things, I found that the FX Send worked, which also led me to find out the preamp was good. I opened it up and found a connecting wire in the poweramp with little clamp pieces that weren't clamping down hard enough. I re-attached the wire and clamped it down, and boom. My amp worked again. However, channel 2 was also busted. It made sound but was obviously malfunctioning. So I returned that amp and bought the 150w version instead, mostly because the 150w version's channel switching tech was better. The 100w footswitch has two channel switching buttons, 1 for swapping between channels 2 and 3, and the other for swapping between channel 1 and whichever channel the 1st switch has connected. The 150w footswitch just lets you freely swap between any of the 3 channels, meaning less tapdancing needed. The 150w has worked pretty well so far. A few days after I got it, it blew a fuse so I'm not sure what happened there, but replacing that fuse with the included spare fixed the issue completely. It's been good since then and I've had it for a year, so... so far so good with this one. Plus all its channels sound right. :)

Exactly.

I agree, everything is up, but Randall's prices are absurd. Off the charts absurd.

Add that to the list of $500 Fender Squires & $1100 MIM Strats & Tele's and $1300 MIM Charvels.
Yes they're all on crack including the Wizard amp on here selling for $4800.
No stock amp is worth that kind of dough, sorry.
Ive yet to play a Wizard that was any better than most $2000 amps out there.
