Randall MTS

Hello guys !
Recently , I was thinking about this MTS ( Rm100)
I can't say straight if I would prefer american or british sound. I like them both. This is the reason why I bought Blackstar - ISF knob.
I readed that this Randall can be equipped with various modules - plexi , blackface , scott ian etc ... - I must say this sounds great for me.

What do you think about this Randall ? It is worth ?
What about other things like reliability etc ?
 
I really think MTS is good if you go the stock module route. It's great if you get into the modified modules. Head over to the MTS forum and start browsing and posting. That's were all the info is.

I just got into the world of the MTS amps. I have had a number of modded modules already, and there are so many killer options available. I am even having a custom module built for me that will have all three modes of the Diezel Einstein channel 1. I tend to buy, and sell amps a lot, and buying, and selling modules is a lot cheaper, and easier since it is about $10 to ship a module vs $50+ on an amp. Plus re-sale of moded modules is very easy.
 
I believe that's the premise that the entire MTS line is based around - getting all-tube recreations of your favorite amps. I definitely think the MTS line would be able to satisfy your desires, but be warned - it can get a little addictive ;) Head over to the MTS forums and we'll get you squared away over there ;)
 
MTS sounds great, and is really kinda fun with some VERY talented modders out there, be beware -- they are addicting, and before you know what happened, you'll have $2000 in modules floating around. As mentioned though, they are pretty easy to trade and sell, especially the ones from the better modders.
 
It's an excellent system. My research started with Randall and I ended up going with Egnater. The M4 and 5 Egnater modules are the core of my setup. Buying Egnater gives you the option of the dual channel mods as well as the entire Randall line. I flipped plenty of Randall modules modded and stock and simply prefer Egnater. They are voiced less aggressively and the second boosted channel essentially offers twice the channels.

As I understand it Randall have discontinued the MTS line so you may want to factor that into your decision. Egnater have announced that they will release new modular gear but no definitive timeline.

I've heard somewhere that they are stop producing the Randall RM 100M - this is true ?
Yes , I know there are many many modules - this is great , i can merge 3 types of amps and get them in one amp , but how about general quality/reliability ?

This is rather a top level of Randall amps , so it should be build in USA , not in China ... Recently i played in shop on RG50TC and ... after about 15 minutes amps died xD Fortunately - shop owner said that this was not my fault - just crappy model. I'm in touch with him , and he dismantle the whole amp and he said that the solders was fucking bundled , probably by a drunk chinese guy ... Next day I saw that and ... It was truth.

That's the reason I'm a bit afraid of Randall quality ...
 
Given that Randall have discontinued the MTS line...I'd look for an Egnater MOD50 or MOD100. You are going to pay more for it but then the warranty will be worth a damn...but you might be able to get 3 used RM100s for the price of one MOD100...so, take your pick.

As a follower of the MTS line I have noted there are a number of issues but no way know how widespread they are. I suspect the % failures are not significantly higher than any major amp brand but since the whole concept basically encourages tinkering/tube swapping it might not be a fair dice comparison to start with.
 
Why they discontinued production of this Randall ?
Not enough customers ?
 
The RM line is really discontinued?? Thats weird, they just introduced the Scott Ian signature RM at NAM :confused: M.

Randall was purchased by a company that decided it wasn't worth pursuing any longer because the license agreement with Bruce Egnater expired. They aren't legally able to market the product anymore.
 
Randall bought the license from Bruce Egnater for 10 years, and that license has expired as of this year. Randall chose not to renew the license, so now the line is (and probably for the best) back in Bruce's hands. Bruce has already announced that he is going to be further developing the system, and has even offered a limited-run of current dual channel modules for those interested. I imagine he's holding off any new product announcements until the Randall stuff mostly clears out of retailer's locations and such.
