Thinking about dumping my JCM 800 2203 for something new and more versatile. Just started paying attention to these Randall heads with all of the module capabilities. Would like some feedback on these amps.... So far the Blackface, Malcolm, and GTO are sounding pretty impressive.

Very veratile. The stock modules are good, but the modified modules will blow your mind. 95%+ of what you get out of the amp it's meant to clone. I was very happy with the stock modules until I heard some of the things Salvation, Jaded Faith, Voodoo Amps and Sacred Groove were offering. Some serious mind blowing stuff. I'm a Marshall guy myself, but this rig is awesome. The Randall stuff is on clearance at a lot of places because their 10 year license from Eganter expired. If you want a ton of information on this gear check out the MTS forum. It is dedicated to the format you're interested in.

So your saying I probably wouldn't miss my JCM 800 if I had one of these? Is the Randall clearance stuff still relevant? Will I have trouble finding modules or is it just other companies are making modules now instead of just Randall.

There is a possibility of modules being difficult to find, I'm not sure of that... we will see. If you get the Salvation Mash-All+ (or Jaded Faith 59RR), I'm pretty sure you wouldn't miss the JCM. Both of those modules have a fantastic JCM setting. Venture over to the MTS forum, I'm sure you'll have plenty of people talking you into selling the JCM. :D

how many companies make modules for these amps?
Well, that's an interesting question. Depends on what you count and how you count it.

Randall and Eganter are truly the only companies that MAKE the modules. Since Randall will be out, Eganter is the only company making them. The other companies that offer modules, simply modify the modules that are/were made by Randall and Egnater.

Love my Randall MTS amps and dont see using anything else as a mainstay. There are many stockers that are superb! My favorite stockers are the XTC!!, Super V, Brahma, Modern, maybe more but these are comes to mind. Ive had a couple of Egnater modules that were impressive.

Had a Dave Friedman Modded Brahma that sounded so damn good made me say
"Marshall who?"

Seriously.....some great tones out of the RM100 modules.

I have a DF Brahma and it is sweet!! Just the right touch of crunch. It stays in my usual jam amp most of the time.
